Is It Worth It?

It’s pretty easy to earn Amex Membership Rewards points by spending on cards like the Amex Platinum card and the American Express^® Gold Card. And they’re some of the most valuable flexible points around, worth 2.2 cents apiece according to our valuations. This means you’ll likely lose value when you transfer points to Hilton.

However, transferring Amex points over to Hilton can make sense if you need to top off your account balance for a specific Hilton redemption or if you have a short, inexpensive stay.

There are more than 6,000 hotels spanning 6 continents in Hilton’s portfolio. But it doesn’t use an award chart like some chains do (Hyatt, for example).
