A new hotel in Miami is now open, and if you’re an IHG One Rewards loyalist (or enjoy a good deal), you’ll want to pay attention.
Let’s dig into all of the details!
IHG Opens Atwell Suites Miami Brickell
IHG announced on March 30, 2022, that it had opened its firstAtwell Suites property. According to the chain, the brand-new Atwell Suites Miami Brickell is situated on the top floors of the building shared with the Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell, another IHG property
Every room here is a suite, each of which includes an in-room wet bar, sleeper sofa, counter-height desk, and a large 55-inch TV.
“The Atwell Suites all-suite design concept is the perfect complement to the Hotel Indigo Miami Brickell,” Pedro Villar, the lead developer at Sunview Companies, said in a statement. “Atwell Suites’ guests will be able to enjoy all that both brands have to offer under one roof, along with spacious suites and spectacular views of the city, a high-rise bar, and more.”
Atwell has nearly 2 dozen hotels in the pipeline across the U.S. Two more are slated to open this year; a “prototypical new construction hotel” in Denver and a hotel in Austin.
The Atwell Suites Miami is located in the popular Brickell neighborhood, a hub for arts and entertainment.
Elsewhere in the Miami area, there’s no shortage of IHG-branded hotels.
In fact, the area is home to a whopping 41 IHG properties, ranging from economy Holiday Inns to pricier Kimpton properties. Like many loyalty programs, IHG uses dynamic pricing, so costs for award nights can vary.
So far, award rates at the Atwell seem to be pretty reasonable, with a studio suite (which includes a balcony) starting at 13,000 IHG points per night for dates throughout April and May. We value IHG One Rewards points at 0.5 cents each, meaning you’d outlay just about $65 worth of points per night — a far cry from the more than $400 the hotel is asking for per night.
If you want to stay in Miami’s Atwell Suites, but you’re short on IHG points, you have several options. You could open a co-branded IHG card or a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards points (which can be transferred to IHG).
Miami is a popular city for travelers, but it’s certainly not known for its affordability. Fortunately, with the opening of the Atwell Suites Miami Brickell, travelers now have another economical option for spending their hard-earned points.
