Marriott is expanding its JW Marriott brand to a new city in China with the debut of the JW Marriott Hotel Xi’an.

Here’s what you need to know about this brand-new property.

On April 24, 2023, Marriott announced the opening of the JW Marriott Hotel Xi’an.

The hotel has 333 guest rooms, including 13 suites, on the 25th to 37th floors. Marriott says all rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with city views.

The hotel’s lobby on the 38th floor features panoramic views over the Qin Ling Mountains, while a 36th-floor JW Executive Lounge offers options for working and relaxing. Dining options include 2 restaurants and a lounge.

Elsewhere, the hotel will feature a full-service spa, an infinity pool, the JW Marriott Garden, and event and meeting spaces.

Marriott said it was excited to expand the JW Marriott portfolio in Xi’an, “a destination where history and culture combine with a forward-looking modernity.”

“True to its brand DNA, JW Marriott Hotel Xi’an bears the legacy of our founder J. Willard Marriott and creates a tranquil, luxury space that offers many paths to well-being, where guests can nourish their souls while they explore one of China’s great ancient capitals,” said Bruce Rohr, Vice President and Global Brand Leader at JW Marriott.

JW Marriott is one of the chain’s signature brands, emphasizing luxury and well-being. Today, you’ll find over 100 JW Marriott hotels in over 35 countries and territories worldwide.

This news comes amid an exciting few weeks for the hotel chain, which is expanding across China. Earlier this month, Marriott announced that it would open a St. Regis property in the port city of Xiamen. That hotel is expected to open in 2027.

How To Book

Reservations are now available, and the hotel will participate in the Marriott Bonvoy program.

With Xi’an’s storied history, you’d think award nights at any JW Marriott property would be pricey, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here. You can find award nights starting at just 21,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night for dates this spring and summer — a steal for any JW Marriott hotel.

Marriott has several co-branded credit cards that you can use to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, all of which offer solid welcome bonuses. You can also transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points earned from several Chase credit cards and Amex Membership Rewards points earned from Amex credit cards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

With China’s recent reopening for tourism, travelers are looking for luxury stays there. Tourists visiting Xi’an now have a new luxury option. And with extremely reasonable award nights, the JW Marriott Hotel Xi’an will undoubtedly become a sweet spot for China hotel stays!
