JW Marriott is one of the most tasteful sets of hotels in the world. With a diversified list of properties, it has never been easier to enjoy top-notch luxury with the level of consistency that JW Marriott promises.

This brand is world-famous for its contemporary designs, flagship locations, and excellent service. Indeed, the JW Marriott is “the spot” to be at in countless cities throughout the world.

If you’re looking for a tremendous luxury hotel brand, chances are you’ll come across the local JW Marriott as an option — it perfectly imbues the oh-so-important mix of luxury and value into each of its properties.

And with a robust loyalty program in Marriott Bonvoy, there are plenty of awesome opportunities to redeem points for superb value at a long list of JW Marriott properties. In this guide, we’ll focus on our very best picks. Let’s get into it!

Everything You Need To Know About JW Marriott

A Legendary Brand

JW Marriott began in 1984 with Washington, D.C. being the location of its maiden property. The JW Marriott Washington, D.C. with its walking-distance location to the White House became a high-end address where some of the most important meetings took place.

Quintessentially identifiable with its signature Griffin logo, this brand is an aspirational haven for many. The consistency of this brand, regardless of whether you’re traveling for business or on holiday at a JW Marriott Resort, has attracted a loyal following globally.

Originally known for its posh accommodations, huge facilities, and second-to-none locations, JW Marriott has expanded its brand focus today to a number of different principles, starting with mindfulness.

Mindful Experiences

Wellness and Fitness

Around the world, well-heeled travelers are spearheading a paradigm shift. Instead of looking for over-the-top facilities and amenities, the average luxury traveler is looking more at a relaxing, mindful, peaceful experience.

That’s why JW Marriott has pivoted its focus to be “a haven designed to allow guests to focus on feeling whole — present in mind, nourished in body, and revitalized in spirit.”

Whether you’re looking at the best beachfront location, the lushest natural scenery, or the most secluded city address, JW Marriott properties are designed to be an oasis, not just another cookie-cutter luxury hotel.

JW Marriott’s activities and offerings include superb common areas, complimentary wellness activities like guided meditations, and an inspirational location.

They also offer some of the most indulgent spas in the world, rounding out a truly extravagant wellness experience.

Award-winning Restaurants

JW Marriott takes its food and beverage seriously, and its properties often offer multiple food and beverage outlets.

At any JW Marriott property, you’ll usually see at least 1 full-service restaurant, a rooftop/lobby bar, and a café.

But it often goes much deeper than that. For example, at the JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa, acclaimed Michelin star chef Fabio Trabocchi helms the traditional Venetian cuisine program at Fiola, the hotel’s fine-dining restaurant.

At the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, Chef Jayson Tang conjures up innovative Cantonese cuisine at the Michelin-starred Man Ho restaurant.

Many of these JW Marriott properties have cornerstone eateries that both locals and tourists clamor to dine at, a true testament to the quality of the brand’s award-winning restaurants.

Events and Activities for the Whole Family

Family activities

Bringing your loved ones to a JW Marriott property? Here, it’s easier than ever to entertain everybody and plan memorable experiences together.

JW Marriott offers 3 main genres of family activities:

  • Culinary
  • Creativity
  • Activeness

With culinary family activities, you can book cooking classes and even culinary competitions to explore local flavors and refine the entire family’s tastebuds.

If you’re more into cultural or creative activities, you can feed your curiosity by touring the local area, making arts and crafts, or checking out sights that feed your wanderlust.

If your family is more on the active side, there are many different ways to burn calories! Starting with the hotel gym, getting your reps in is as easy as taking the elevator (or stairs).

You can also enhance your well-being through activities like family stretching, fitness classes, and training, as well as treks and hikes through the locality.

Bath Amenities From Aromatherapy Associates

Aromatherapy Associates amenities

The bath and body product provider of choice is Aromatherapy Associates. The U.K.-based company offers naturally-based products.

Floral tones like lavender and ylang-ylang are found in the signature product at JW Marriott properties.

These transformative amenities are sure to rejuvenate your soul and make mindful travel easier than ever by elevating your hotel room experience to a miniature spa.

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

As we alluded to above, Marriott’s loyalty program is known as Marriott Bonvoy. The points you earn and redeem are called Marriott Bonvoy points.

It’s easy to earn Marriott Bonvoy points with any of the co-branded credit cards from American Express or Chase. After earning points from your spending, you can redeem them for stays at JW Marriott properties!

The 19 Best JW Marriott Redemptions

As you can imagine, JW Marriott properties are among the most impressive in the world. These properties are often striking architectural marvels, legendary in service, and totally extravagant.

Usually, this also carries over in price! Luckily, it’s super easy to redeem Marriott Bonvoy points for stays at JW Marriott properties.

And with soaring price tags, you can get some incredible value by redeeming points here.

In this next entire section, we’ll walk you through the best JW Marriott properties you can book using points.

We’ll focus on the most luxurious properties with the highest price tags and award categories (and therefore the highest value). Along the way, we’ll notice some unique luxury hotels with unexpectedly low points costs.

1. JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa

JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa
JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa. Image Credit: Marriott

The JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa needs no introduction. Unveiled in late 2019, this resort is the most aspirational JW Marriott property there is.

And it’s probably to be expected considering its flagship location in the Maldives.

Still, it’s important to call out that it can compete with the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort and even The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands. That’s how luxurious this new construction is.

The entry-level room is actually the Overwater Pool Villa — one of the few overwater villas redeemable at the standard award level!

Each villa features modern design elements with private decks, a plunge pool, a minimum of 2,518 square feet of space, a walk-in closet, a massive living/sitting area, high ceilings, a pool cabana, stairs for direct access to the water, and a 55-inch LED TV. The marble bathroom has 2 vanities, a bidet, a walk-in rain shower, and a separate soaking bathtub.

This lavish resort boasts 5 restaurants, 3 cocktail bars, and a wine cellar with nearly 2,000 bottles from around the world.

Aailaa serves all-day dining, Kaashi serves Thai cuisine in an awesome treetop location, Fiamma is the Italian alfresco restaurant, Hashi is the refined Japanese teppanyaki spot, and Shio is the signature grill restaurant serving the finest cuts and fresh seafood.

Wabi Sabi is a Japanese cocktail bar focusing on smoked cocktails and traditional Japanese alcohol like sake and whisky. Rum Bean is a treetop rum bar with a selection of nearly 100 signature rums. Lastly, Horizon serves tropical cocktails in majestic swing bar seats!

In addition, there is a Spa by JW, a gym, a kids’ club, an activity room with billiards, cigars, shisha, karaoke, and board games, as well as a complete dive and water sports center.

This resort can cost anywhere from 70,000 to 100,000 points per night. Cash rates usually average around $1,000 to $4,000 per night for a standard rate.

2. JW Marriott Cannes (France)

JW Marriott Cannes
JW Marriott Cannes. Image Credit: Marriott

The JW Marriott Cannes is one of the famed luxury hotels, partially because it’s a favored hotel by many celebrities during the film festival season. Festival de Cannes is one of the world’s most famous film festivals, and by booking a stay here, it’s easy to blend work and pleasure if you’re in the entertainment industry.

This property has one of the most elite locations in Cote d’Azur on La Croisette, just steps away from the French Riviera. Just a 12-minute walk from the main event center and on a beachfront boulevard, you won’t want for much more when you’re staying here.

Each of the guestrooms is at least 323 square feet in size and is also soundproof. The floor-to-ceiling windows let in an abundance of natural light, while the furnishings like the flat-screen TV, minibar, color scheme, corner office, and plush bed warm up the room.

Within the marble bathroom, you’ll find a shower-tub combo with a rain showerhead, as well as a single vanity, bathrobes, slippers, and occasionally Bvlgari bath and body products.

The main restaurant is the JW Kitchen, serving steakhouse favorites, and the main cocktail bar is Le Panorama, located on the rooftop in an alfresco setting.

There’s a full gym, an outdoor pool, and 18 meeting and conference rooms, as well as a kids’ playground.

This hotel charges 50,000 to 70,000 points per night, depending on your stay dates.

During the peak season, you’ll see rates of up to $950, inclusive of taxes and fees. This is an astonishing price — though to be clear, room rates can drop to as little as $225 per night during the low season.

3. JW Marriott Essex House New York

JW Marriott Essex House New York is housed in a prestigious art deco building across the road from Central Park — indeed, it’s such an icon that it’s been categorized as a New York Historical Hotel since 1931, an impressive feat!

Among the many perks of this hotel is an envious location, just a 3-minute walk from the 57th Street subway station and a 6-minute walk from Columbus Circle’s shops and eateries.

Each of the reimagined rooms showcases smart technology and Art Deco opulence. With at least 330 square feet of space, these rooms have a sumptuous king bed, a daybed, a minibar, coffee and tea facilities, a workstation with a desk, a chair, power outlets, and a 46-inch flat-screen TV.

There’s also a closet, a marble bathroom with a shower-tub combo, bathrobes, slippers, a hairdryer, and Aromatherapy Associates bath and body products.

The full-service restaurant also contains a bar, a wine wall, a cozy fireplace, and exquisite floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of Central Park South.

Lastly, there’s an executive lounge, a PRIMP Spa, a 24/7 gym, and meeting and event space.

This landmark hotel offers incredibly convenient luxurious accommodations for 50,000 to 100,000 points per night.

Paid rates fluctuate wildly, but expect to pay $600 on average and $900 during the holiday season for a standard room.

4. JW Marriott Ankara (Turkey)

JW Marriott Ankara

Ankara is Turkey’s capital city, and it’s home to some incredible luxury hotels. Oddly enough, the cash rates often far exceed what you’d expect — but the points rates don’t usually carry over!

This presents an incredible value opportunity if you’re staying in Turkey. Known mostly as a city center business hotel, the JW Marriott Ankara is a fantastic beacon of luxury in the hustle and bustle of Ankara.

Just a 13-minute walk from Congresium Ankara and 6 miles from Ankara Castle, this inspirational 5-star hotel offers well-appointed rooms and suites, all of which have marble bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, Ankara city views, and cloudlike bedding.

All rooms have at least 452 square feet of space, and notable room features include soundproof floor-to-ceiling windows, a desk, an armchair and ottoman, and a 40-inch flat-screen TV. The spacious full bathroom has a separate tub and shower, an oversized vanity, bathrobes, slippers, and Aromatherapy Associates amenities.

At this hotel, you’ll have several dining options, such as the signature JW Steakhouse serving American steakhouse classics, Fires & Flavors Restaurant offering traditional Turkish delicacies, Sky Vue Cocktail Bar & Terrace mixing elegant cocktails in a modern atmosphere, an executive lounge, a sports bar and lounge, and an in-spa café.

And a luxury hotel in Turkey wouldn’t be complete with a Turkish hammam that, along with the sauna and steam room, is located in Karma Spa. There are also 2 pools (1 heated indoor and 1 outdoor), a whirlpool, plus a gym nearby.

You might be wondering how much it’d cost to book a stay here — and you’re probably shocked to learn that the JW Marriott Ankara charges from just 10,000 points to 15,000 points per night.

This is a fantastic value proposition because paid room rates usually hover around $400 to $500 per night!
