Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s largest airline, is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance and offers flights to destinations all around the globe. Its hub is located at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).

In this post, we’ll show you all the ways to earn miles in the Cathay Pacific frequent flyer program, Asia Miles. Your earned miles can then be redeemed for various travel and lifestyle rewards!

Enroll in the Cathay Member Program

Asia Miles homepage
Earn miles to redeem for travel rewards and more with the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles loyalty program! Image Credit: Asia Miles

Formerly 2 separate programs called Asia Miles and the Marco Polo Club, the new program simply called Cathay lets you earn redeemable miles (Asia Miles) and elite status (Status Points) in the same program.

Free memberships are available to travelers ages 2 and up, but consent is required from a parent or legal guardian for those under 18 to join.

After enrolling in Cathay, you will receive a confirmation email with an attached temporary membership card so that you can start earning Asia Miles and Status Points right away. You’ll use your membership number on any eligible activity to earn points, which are valid for 3 years from the month they are credited to the account.

Use Credit Cards To Earn Asia Miles

Most of the time you’ll get more value by using hotel points for hotel stays, but there are situations where it can make sense to transfer them to Asia Miles — especially if you just need a few extra points for an award flight.

You can also use credit cards associated with hotel loyalty programs to earn reward points and then transfer those points to your Cathay Pacific Asia Miles account. For example, Hilton Honors, Marriott Bonvoy, IHG One Rewards, and World of Hyatt all have co-branded credit cards.
