Air Canada is ramping up its transborder connectivity with 2 new routes.
Starting in December, the Canadian flag carrier will introduce nonstop service from Halifax (YHZ) to Newark (EWR) and Vancouver (YVR) to Houston (IAH).
“With these new routes from Halifax and Vancouver, Air Canada is meeting demand in these important markets and building on our strengthened trans-border partnership with United Airlines to solidify our leadership in the Canada-U.S. market,” said Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Air Canada.
Here’s everything we know about Air Canada’s latest route network update.
Air Canada Announces 2 New Transborder Routes
Both new services will be year-round with their respective inaugural flights taking place on December 16, 2022.
Initially, the Halifax to Newark route will operate 4 times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays until January 9, 2023, when its frequency will become daily.
By launching this new route, Air Canada will be creating the only nonstop service between the New York City area and Halifax — the capital of Canada’s province of Nova Scotia.
The route will be operated by Air Canada’s fleet of all economy Air Canada Express Q-400 aircraft. The schedule for the route is as follows:
The route will be operated by Air Canada’s fleet of state-of-the-art Airbus A220 aircraft which feature business and economy class cabins.
By choosing the major United Airlines hubs of Houston and Newark, Air Canada is providing more connection possibilities for Air Canada, United, and Star Alliance frequent flyers on both sides of the border.
“[These routes] will also facilitate many new one-stop connections from the U.S. onto Air Canada’s extensive domestic and global network,” said Galardo.
Hot Tip: By enrolling in Air Canada’s frequent flyer program, Aeroplan, you’ll be able to earn and redeem Aeroplan Points on these new Air Canada routes as well as services with other Star Alliance member airlines like United.
