The Marriott Bonvoy program is one of the most popular hotel loyalty programs in the world — it also has some of the most luxurious brands, including The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, and The Luxury Collection.

A few assumptions were required when putting together the best values for the hotels on this list:

  1. Peak travel dates from the Google Travel Guides were used to determine the most popular time to visit
  2. We used the cash rate for a weekend night over 2 different months during the peak travel time
  3. We averaged the cents per point value over the 2 months to determine the value the hotel offered

With this series, the goal is to uncover which luxury Marriott hotels offer the most value on a cents-per-point basis. Both cash and points rates will fluctuate depending on the time of the year, so the value you receive may be different than what is shown here. We intend to show travelers the value of what’s possible when booking luxury Marriott hotels.

Now that we’ve crossed that bridge, it’s time to jump into the best luxury Marriott properties to book with your hard-earned Marriott Bonvoy points. Holding Marriott Bonvoy elite status makes your stay at any of these properties more enjoyable. That’s why we’ll first cover which Marriott Bonvoy credit cards help you to earn elite status.

From there, we’ll highlight the luxury Marriott properties that made our list and share the other ways you can earn Marriott Bonvoy points.

Marriott Bonvoy Credit Cards

American Express and Chase are the 2 financial institutions that issue Marriott Bonvoy credit cards.

There are currently 6 personal and business credit cards that earn Marriott Bonvoy points directly with your spending available for new applicants — 3 are offered by American Express and 3 are offered by Chase.

There are several restrictions to which new cardmembers are eligible, so it’s helpful to research eligibility requirements before applying.

If you’re not sure which credit card to start with, check out this detailed guide to the best credit cards for Marriott Bonvoy loyalists.

Bottom Line: Chase and Marriott Bonvoy business credit cards will not count towards your Chase 5/24 limit. For those wanting to learn more about this rule before applying for these cards, here is everything you need to know about the Chase 5/24 rule.

Marriott Bonvoy Award Chart

Marriott Bonvoy currently uses a dynamic award pricing system, which means that the price you’ll pay in points will vary based on demand.

Other Ways To Earn Marriott Bonvoy Points

For non-Marriott Bonvoy elite travelers, the most efficient way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is to both sign up for and put your spending on Marriott Bonvoy credit cards. With 6 co-branded cards open to new applicants, anyone should have an easy time quickly earning Marriott Bonvoy points.

Another way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is to become a loyal member and stay at Marriott. Members earn 10 points per $1 spent at Marriott with elite members earning an additional 10% to 75% bonus points.

Marriott Bonvoy is also an American Express transfer partner and Chase transfer partner. However, we recommend redeeming those transferable points with their high-value airline partners instead.

All in all, the best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is to earn elite status and put your spending on Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards. When you factor in a sign-up bonus on top of earning bonus points during your Marriott stays, it’s fairly easy to rack up Marriott Bonvoy points.

Final Thoughts

Marriott has one of the largest hotel portfolios in the entire world, making this company a mainstay, especially with its luxury properties.

Unfortunately, many luxury properties have increased the number of points required for an award night, so high-value hotel redemptions may be a thing of the past. For this reason, we are putting Marriott second in our rankings behind Hyatt. Hilton comes in third with IHG coming in fourth.

What Marriott Bonvoy lacks in cents per point value compared to World of Hyatt, the hotel makes up for in the sheer number of luxury properties around the world. Almost all major cities and many mid-sized cities have a luxury Marriott property making it extremely easy to find a luxury property to book.

About Michael McHugh

Born and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Michael took his first international trip in 2013 with friends to the Bahamas. Although he didn’t travel much in his younger years, on that trip, he caught the travel bug and has been hooked ever since.

Michael first caught wind of the points and miles game in 2014 while at a bar in Washington, DC where the conversation amongst friends was quickly derailed because of an alert on a friend’s phone about a mistake fare.  That’s where the love affair with points and miles began.
