American Express has strengthened its efforts to attract new customers lately, offering massive welcome bonuses and refreshing a variety of its cards. Now, those with a small business have another offer to consider — and it’s very generous.

Let’s take a look.

Targeted offers are discussed in the article below. Please note that these offers are not available to all applicants. Any information related to targeted offers has been collected independently and has not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

Amex Business Platinum Card Welcome Bonus Offer

The welcome offers for The Business Platinum Card® from American Express can vary — depending on your credit score and income, you may see any one of several different available offers. At this time, we’re seeing the 100,000-point, 120,000-point, and even 150,000-point offers widely available.

All of these are significant and can get you a large portion of the way toward a high-end vacation.

We generally value Membership Rewards points at about 2.2 cents apiece, which means that a 100,000-point bonus offer is worth ~$2,200, a 120,000-point bonus is worth ~$2,640, and a 150,000-point bonus is worth $3,300.

Option 1: Check Amex’s Website Directly (Try This First)

If you want to pick up the Amex Business Platinum card with the highest offers, you should start your search directly on the American Express website. Checking directly will allow you to see what type of offer you’re targeted for.

Option 2: Check on CardMatch

If Amex’s offer isn’t the one you’re looking for, then the second option we recommend is checking via the CardMatch tool.

CardMatch uses a soft credit check to see if you’re eligible for any elevated offers. Because it isn’t a hard pull, checking won’t impact your credit score.

Option 3. Targeted Email Offers

If you’re still searching, keep an eye out for targeted email or mail offers. You’ll need to opt-in to receive New Card and Credit Offers in your Amex account’s General Marketing Email Preferences.

Benefits of the Amex Business Platinum Card

Along with a generous welcome offer, the Amex Business Platinum card comes with several benefits, including airport lounge access and semi-annual statement credits (enrollment required for some benefits):

That’s a lot of value when you consider the annual fee of $695 is hefty (rates & fees).

Who Is Eligible for the Amex Business Platinum Card Welcome Offer?

If you do not currently have, or have not recently held, the Amex Business Platinum card, then candidates with good to excellent credit should generally be eligible for the welcome bonus offer.

Note that the Amex Business Platinum card and personal The Platinum Card® from American Express are separate products. Given that, not only can you hold both cards at the same time, but you can also receive both welcome bonus offers.

Additionally, if you already hold another American Express business card like the American Express® Business Gold Card or The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express you are still eligible to receive the welcome bonus offer on the Amex Business Platinum card.

That said, even if you have never had the Amex Business Platinum card before, American Express may still tell you via a pop-up during the application process that you are ineligible for the welcome offer. This usually has to do with your past history with American Express, either via the number of cards you currently have open, cards you’ve closed in the past, or other factors. So, if you receive this pop-up, you can simply withdraw your application and try again at another time.

Maximizing Your Membership Rewards Points

What would you do with 100,000, 125,000, or even 172,500 Amex Membership Rewards points? If you qualify for the 150,000-point welcome offer and maximize your minimum spend with 1.5x purchases, you’ll be sitting on a stockpile of 172,500 points. So, what can you do?

Enjoy (Almost) 2 Round-Trip Business Class Flights to Europe

Transfer partner ANA charges just 88,000 miles for a round-trip flight to Europe, even when flying from the West Coast, meaning you’ll pay 176,000 miles for 2 round-trip tickets. As a Star Alliance partner, you can fly the likes of United, Lufthansa, Air Canada, and SWISS for your trip. Amex points transfer to ANA at a 1:1 ratio.

Stay Lots of Nights at a Hilton Property

Although Hilton has officially ditched its award chart, it still maintains a base rate for reward nights starting at 5,000 Hilton Honors points per night. Amex points transfer to Hilton at a 2:1 ratio, meaning 1 Amex point becomes 2 Hilton points.

Fly Qatar QSuite to the Maldives and Back

British Airways has recently dropped its award pricing for Qatar Airways flights, meaning a one-way Qsuite ticket to the Maldives will cost you just 70,000 Avios. Round-trip, you’ll be paying 140,000 Avios — or 140,000 Amex points once you transfer them.

Final Thoughts

If you don’t already have the Amex Business Platinum card, now’s the time to get it. Although it’s an expensive card, its annual statement credits and huge welcome bonus make this offer more than worth it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the highest ever Amex Business Platinum card welcome bonus offer?

The highest-ever Amex Business Platinum card welcome bonus offer was 260,000 points, but it was only available as a targeted mail offer.

How much is 150,000 Amex points worth?

We value Amex points at 2.2 cents apiece thanks to the high-value redemptions you can book via the Amex transfer partners. This would make 150,000 points worth $3,300 based on that valuation. That said, the amount of value you get from your points will depend on how you redeem them.

Is the Amex Business Platinum card worth it?

The Amex Business Platinum card would be worth it for you if you’re a business owner who knows you’ll get more value out of the annual credits, airport lounge access, hotel elite status, Global Entry, CLEAR Plus, 35% airline bonus, and more, than what you will pay for the annual fee.
