Arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, you’ll have direct aisle access no matter which seat you pick. You’ll also have access to some of the best inflight dining there is, featuring Middle Eastern and Western cuisine.

How To Find Qatar Airways Qsuites

Qatar Airways operates a few types of long-haul business class products. We want to focus on booking Qsuites, which are among the best business class seats.

To find out which flights offer Qsuites, you have to consult the seat map. The best way to do so is with ExpertFlyer, a paid service that costs $9.99 per month or $99 for 12 months. You can also get a more basic version for $4.99 per month with more limited features.

Qatar Airways has quite a varied wide-body fleet, but Qsuites availability differs between their many aircraft types. Qatar Airways Qsuites can be found on 4 aircraft types: the Boeing 777-200LR, the Boeing 777-300ER, the Airbus A350-900, and the Airbus A350-1000.

All of Qatar’s Airbus A350-1000s feature Qsuites. Of the 9 Boeing 777-200LRs, 7 of them feature Qsuites, and the other 2 feature business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration. More than half of the 56 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft also feature Qsuites. About a third of Qatar’s A350-900s feature Qsuites.

Qatar has frequent and unannounced equipment swaps, so even if a route is typically flown in an aircraft with Qsuites, that can always change.

How To Fly Qatar Qsuites (Business Class) Using Miles

When it comes to booking Qsuites using points and miles, you have plenty of options. Now that Qatar has joined the Avios network, this opens up even more options to book Qsuites. You can use Qatar’s own Avios program, its Oneworld partners, or even non-alliance partners like JetBlue to book Qsuites.

Oneworld partners are eligible to book Qatar Airways flights, so long as Qatar Airways releases award availability to these partners. We’ll talk more about that in the sections below.

Qatar Airways Privilege Club

The first method we’ll discuss is none other than Qatar Airways’ own frequent flyer program, Privilege Club.

Qatar Airways transitioned away from its old “Qmiles” currency in March 2022 and adopted Avios, the same currency used by Iberia, British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Vueling.

While all the airlines use the same Avios currency, each airline program uses a different award chart. This opens up plenty of redemption opportunities as you can choose to book award flights with whatever program has the cheapest redemption rates.

Although there may be other programs that may charge less, booking Qsuites with Qatar Avios may be the way to go, as they have become significantly easier to earn.

It is now possible to transfer Avios between Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, and Qatar. This makes earning Avios significantly easier as you can transfer points from Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, Capital One Miles, or Marriott Bonvoy.

British Airways Avios

The next method we’ll talk about is using British Airways Avios. When British Airways brought Qatar into the Avios program, it also made some significant changes in award rates, taxes, and fees.

Recently, Qatar lowered the award prices for many partner award flights, bringing them in line with other Avios currencies. Nowadays, British Airways Avios needed to book an award ticket are on par with Qatar Avios. One-way flights between the U.S. and Doha can be booked for about 70,000 Avios and about $100 in taxes and fees.

If you’re looking for a simple nonstop flight to Doha in Qsuites, using British Airways is a great option. However, if you need to connect onwards, you will want to avoid using British Airways as the airline will tack on more miles and taxes and fees for a connection.

Earning Avios has gotten easier as British Airways is a transfer partner of Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One Miles, and Chase Ultimate Rewards.

British Airways is an excellent option, so if you’ve got lots of Chase Ultimate Rewards points to burn, you’ll find great use in British Airways.

American Airlines AAdvantage Program

American Airlines AAdvantage miles are often the best way to book Qsuites flights thanks to great award rates and low taxes and fees. American still offers a region-based award chart for partner airlines. We like using this program because it has some pretty cheap sweet spots, especially from the U.S. to the Middle East.

For one-way flights between the U.S. and Doha (DOH), you’ll need just 70,000 AAdvantage miles. You can even connect elsewhere in the Middle East or the Indian Subcontinent for the same 70,000 miles.

Here’s why we rank American’s AAdvantage loyalty program near the top of our list:

Earning American Airlines AAdvantage miles is not too difficult thanks to its Citi and Barclays co-branded credit cards. American AAdvantage is also a transfer partner of Marriott Bonvoy.

Here are the steps to book:

1. Visit British Airways’ website to search for award availability.
2. Log into your account using your Member ID and Password.
3. Click Spend Avios (located when expanding the Executive Club banner on the top of the page).
4. Click Book a reward flight.
5. Enter your desired dates for travel, destination, and origin cities, and check off the box that chooses Business/Club.
6. Locate your flight.
7. Write down the flight numbers, dates, and times.
8. Call AA at 800-882-8880 and provide them with the information you wrote down.
   • If you need to transfer points to American or top off your AA miles balance, request to put your award on hold.
9. Pay for applicable taxes and fees.
   • Be sure to ask for the Qatar Airways record locator! This will allow you to select your seats in advance through Qatar Airways’ website.

Alternatively, you can book Qatar Qsuites directly on the American Airlines website using AAdvantage miles.

JetBlue TrueBlue

Although JetBlue and Qatar have been partners since 2013, award redemptions between the programs weren’t much to consider. But JetBlue recently added the game-changing ability to book Qatar awards using TrueBlue points.

Awards can be booked online through JetBlue’s website. Award availability seems to match American Airlines.

You can book Qatar economy from the U.S. to Doha for 34,000 TrueBlue points, or you can use 70,000 TrueBlue points one-way to book Qsuites business class. This is a great addition as the pricing matches what you can book using AAdvantage miles or British Airways Avios.

The cheapest awards from the U.S. are nonstop flights to Doha. Awards connecting beyond Doha seem to be roughly based on distance and therefore pricing higher, which is different than programs such as American AAdvantage. 

TrueBlue is a transfer partner of several major transferrable point programs, including Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Points. Transfers from Chase and Citi have a 1:1 ratio. Transfers from Amex to JetBlue have a 5:4 transfer ratio.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

Another viable option to book Qsuites is through another Oneworld partner, Alaska Airlines. The program is a favorite thanks to its reasonable award rates, multiple airline partners, and the ability to book stopovers, even on one-way tickets.

Alaska now has three different award charts for its partner airline redemptions: The Americas; Europe, Middle East, and Africa; and Asia Pacific.

You can book Qsuites for 85,000 miles and about $20 in taxes and fees between the west coast and Doha.

Although the mileage requirements are a bit higher, it’s worth taking a look at if you have some Alaska miles sitting around.

Alaska Airlines miles can be incredibly valuable — but they’re also difficult to earn. Alaska’s only major transfer partner is Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy points transfer at a 3:1 ratio. With every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points that you transfer, you’ll receive 5,000 bonus miles.

However, Alaska Airlines offers both personal and business co-branded credit cards.

Japan Airlines Mileage Bank

As a last resort, you also have the option to book Qsuites through Japan Airlines Mileage Bank. The program uses a distance-based award chart which provides great redemption options. The required mileage is determined based on the distance of the total award itinerary and the class of service traveled.

Here is the award chart for Japan Airlines partner awards:

In general, Japan Airlines has the cheapest mileage cost. JAL’s mileage program has great rates to fly Qsuites, starting at just 110,000 miles round-trip between the U.S. and the Middle East.

The drawback is the lack of transfer partners. The only transfer partner is Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy points transfer to JAL Mileage Bank at a 3:1 ratio, and you get an additional 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points you transfer.

It may be worth it to transfer your Marriott Bonvoy points to JAL if you have a lot of Bonvoy points sitting around.

Here’s how to use Japan Airlines miles to book your Qsuites flight:

1. Use British Airways to search for award availability.
2. Log in using your British Airways Member ID and Password.
3. Click Spend Avios underneath the Executive Club banner.
4. Click Book a Reward Flight.
5. Type in your desired travel dates, Business/Club, number of passengers, and route.
6. Write down all flight information.
7. Visit Japan Airlines.
8. Select your City and Language.
9. Log in with your JAL Mileage Bank ID and Password.
10. Select Award Ticket on the red banner next to Flight Status.
11. Select Book JMB Partner Airlines Award Ticket under the 2 main icons.
12. Select Qatar Airways from the dropdown menu.
13. Repeat the same award search to verify award availability.
14. Reserve your flights and pay for any applicable taxes and fees.

It’s possible to skip the British Airways steps to search for award availability, but British Airways is reliable and easy to use, which acts as a foolproof mechanism.

Hot Tip:

If you want to preserve your precious points/miles, using Japan Airlines miles might be best for you. Keep in mind you can only transfer Marriott Bonvoy points, which may take a while. How To Earn Enough Points for Qsuites

If you’ve decided to book a flight on these industry-leading Qsuites, you’ll be pleased to know there are tons of avenues to earn points for Qsuites.

Qatar Airways is a 1:1 transfer partner of Amex and Citi and a 3:1 partner with Marriott Bonvoy.

British Airways is a transfer partner of Amex, Chase, Capital One, and Marriott Bonvoy. Transfers occur at a 1:1 ratio except with Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy points transfer to British Airways at a 3:1 ratio, and you get an additional 5,000 miles for every 60,000 points you transfer.

American Airlines is a transfer partner with Marriott Bonvoy at 3:1.

JetBlue is a transfer partner of Amex, Chase, and Citi. Transfers from Chase and Citi are at 1:1. Transfers from Amex are at 5:4.

Japan Airlines has 1 transfer partner in Marriott Bonvoy at a 3:1 ratio.

Furthermore, if you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to some of the aforementioned partners, you will receive a 5,000-mile bonus, resulting in a total of 25,000 miles.

When Should You Search for Award Space?

Over the years, it’s gotten much, much easier to book Qatar’s aspirational Qsuites business class using miles. However, this comes with a major downside: As Qsuites have gotten more popular and easier to book, finding that availability has gotten significantly harder. This is especially true with partner airline programs such as American and Alaska.

Booking Qsuites using American AAdvantage miles has gotten harder as travelers have used British Airways or Qatar Airways Avios to book these seats.

Booking through American Airlines, you can book flights up to 331 days in advance. Booking through British Airways, you can book flights up to 355 days in advance. Book through Qatar with Qatar Avios, and you can book flights up to 361 days in advance.

It seems the best time to book Qsuites business class seats is roughly 331 and 355 days in advance through either British Airways or Qatar.
