This guide covers the 5 loyalty programs best suited to booking Qatar Airways Qsuites business class with points, how much each charges from the U.S. to Doha and how to book through each one.

Qsuites is available on select Qatar Airways routes and aircraft, with award pricing starting at 70,000 miles one-way from the U.S. The quick overview and program comparison below summarize how the options stack up.

Quick Overview: Best Ways To Book Qatar Airways Qsuites With Points

Five programs offer reasonable Qsuites award pricing: Qatar Airways Privilege Club, British Airways Club, American Airlines AAdvantage, JetBlue TrueBlue, and Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards. One-way pricing from the U.S. to Doha starts at 70,000 miles through AAdvantage, Qatar Avios, BA Avios, and Atmos Rewards (East Coast), and 90,000 points through TrueBlue.

British Airways Club passes along Qatar’s carrier-imposed surcharges (often around $235 one-way); AAdvantage, TrueBlue, and Atmos Rewards do not, and Qatar Avios redemptions carry only modest taxes.

Qatar Airways releases award space up to 361 days in advance through Privilege Club, and Qsuites award availability has tightened as the product has grown in popularity. Avios can be transferred among Qatar Airways, British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Finnair, and Loganair via the Avios transfer tool.

What Are Qatar Airways Qsuites?

Qsuites is Qatar Airways‘ flagship business class product, arranged in a 1-2-1 layout with direct aisle access from every seat. Each suite has a closing door for privacy. Seats are 21.5 inches wide and convert into fully flat beds 79 inches long.

Center seats can be combined into a double bed, and certain middle suites can be reconfigured into a four-person mini-cabin, useful for families or groups traveling together.

Onboard amenities include a Brics amenity kit with toiletries, eye mask, socks, and a hard-shell case, along with pajamas from The White Company. Bedding and dining service are provided on long-haul flights.

In Doha, Qsuites passengers can use the Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge, which spans multiple floors and includes buffet and à la carte dining, a game room, and quiet areas. Qsuites passengers also receive priority check-in and priority boarding at the airport.

How To Find Qatar Airways Qsuites

Qatar Airways operates several long-haul business class products, and only some flights feature Qsuites. To confirm whether a specific flight has Qsuites, check the seat map.

ExpertFlyer is the most reliable paid option at $9.99 per month or $99 per year, with a lower-tier option at $4.99 per month. SeatGuru is a free alternative but is updated less frequently.

Qsuites operates on 4 aircraft types: the Boeing 777-200LR, Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A350-900, and Airbus A350-1000. All A350-1000s have Qsuites. Seven of 9 777-200LRs have Qsuites; the other 2 have 2-2-2 business class. A majority of the 777-300ERs have Qsuites, and roughly a third of the A350-900s do.

Qatar swaps equipment without notice, so the aircraft type on a given route can change before departure.

Best Programs for Booking Award Flights on Qatar Airways Qsuites

Qatar Airways Privilege Club

Qatar Airways’ own loyalty program switched from Qmiles to Avios in March 2022. Privilege Club is a direct way to book Qsuites because award space is searchable on Qatar’s own site.

One-way nonstop awards from the U.S. to Doha start at 70,000 Avios in Qsuites, with taxes typically in the $60 range. Award pricing is dynamic and can increase as seats sell. Privilege Club generally matches partner pricing on nonstop flights and undercuts British Airways Club on connecting itineraries.

Transfer partners: American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, and Citi ThankYou Rewards (premium cards) transfer to Qatar Avios at 1:1; Marriott Bonvoy transfers at 3:1.

How to book:

  1. Go to Qatar Airways’ website.
  2. Enter your travel information, including dates, route, and number of passengers.
  3. Ensure you change the travel class to business.
  4. Check the “Book using Avios” box before you search.

Example redemptions:

Hot Tip:

Avios can be moved among Qatar, British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling, Finnair, and Loganair through the Avios transfer tool, which allows pooling balances across programs before booking.

British Airways Avios

British Airways uses Avios and offers Qsuites awards through its own redemption portal. Pricing on nonstop flights is in line with Qatar Avios, but BA passes along Qatar’s carrier-imposed fuel surcharges, which significantly increase the cash component.

One-way nonstop business class flights from the U.S. to Doha start at 70,000 Avios plus roughly $235 in taxes and fees. Connecting itineraries cost more because BA prices each segment separately, so direct flights are a better use of BA Avios for Qsuites.

BA’s fuel surcharges make it the most expensive program of the five in cash terms, even though the points cost matches AAdvantage and Qatar Avios.

Transfer partners: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Wells Fargo all transfer at 1:1; Marriott Bonvoy transfers at 3:1.

How to book:

  1. Go to British Airways’ website.
  2. In the top menu, click where it says “Book,” then choose “Book a flight with Avios.”
  3. Log in to your account on the next page.
  4. Then enter your route, number of passengers, and your class of travel.
  5. If booking one-way flights, check the box entitled “One way only” and then search.

Example redemptions:

  • Atlanta (ATL) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 70,000 BA Avios
  • Miami (MIA) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 70,000 BA Avios
  • San Francisco (SFO) to Doha (DOH) to Malé (MLE) one-way for 105,000 BA Avios
  • Singapore (SIN) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 50,000 BA Avios
Hot Tip:

Opening the British Airways Visa Signature® Card can help you earn Avios.

American Airlines AAdvantage

AAdvantage uses a fixed, zone-based partner award chart for Qatar Airways redemptions. It is generally the lowest-cost cash-plus-points option for Qsuites, because American does not pass along carrier-imposed surcharges.

One-way flights from the U.S. to Doha cost 70,000 AAdvantage miles in Qsuites, with taxes typically under $50. The same 70,000-mile price applies to connecting itineraries within the Middle East and Indian subcontinent. Awards can be held for 24 hours before ticketing.

Nonstop Qsuites award availability through AAdvantage has tightened, but connecting itineraries that combine a domestic AA flight with a Qatar long-haul are often more readily available at the same 70,000-mile rate.

Transfer partners: Bilt Rewards transfers to AAdvantage at 1:1; Marriott Bonvoy transfers at 3:1 with a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 Bonvoy points moved.

How to book:

  1. Visit American Airlines’ website to search for award availability.
  2. Enter your travel dates and route, then select the option to use miles.
  3. On the results page, look for flights saying they’re operated by Qatar Airways.
  4. Book the flight with miles and use a credit card to pay the taxes and fees.

Example redemptions:

  • Houston (IAH) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 70,000 AA miles
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 70,000 AA miles
  • Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 40,000 AA miles
Hot Tip:

Check out our guide for the best ways to redeem American Airlines AAdvantage miles for maximum value.

JetBlue TrueBlue

JetBlue added Qatar Airways as a redemption partner in 2023 with online booking through JetBlue’s website. Availability generally tracks what shows on American Airlines.

One-way nonstop Qsuites flights from the U.S. to Doha cost 90,000 TrueBlue points, with taxes around $8. Economy redemptions start near 44,900 points. Connecting itineraries beyond Doha are priced by distance and can run higher than fixed-chart programs.

Transfer partners: Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards transfer to TrueBlue at 1:1; Amex Membership Rewards transfers at 5:4, while Capital One transfers at 5:3.

How to book:

  1. Search for award availability on JetBlue’s website.
  2. Sign in to your TrueBlue account.
  3. Select the Qatar Airways award, complete the booking online, and pay taxes and fees with a credit card.

Example redemptions:

Hot Tip:

TrueBlue has several transferable currency partners, but Qsuites availability for online TrueBlue redemption is often thin in peak seasons.

Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards

Atmos Rewards (formerly Mileage Plan) uses a region-based partner chart with separate tables for the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific. It also allows a free stopover of up to 14 days on one-way international awards.

Pricing depends on distance. East Coast departures to Doha typically fall in the 5,001-to-7,000 mile band at 70,000 points one-way in business; longer routes (Midwest, South, and West Coast) fall in the 7,001-to-100,000 mile band at 85,000 points. Taxes are usually around $20 with no fuel surcharges passed along.

Transfer partners: Bilt Rewards transfers to Atmos Rewards at 1:1; Marriott Bonvoy transfers at 3:1.

How to book:

  1. Go to Alaska Airlines’ website.
  2. Input your route, dates, and number of passengers.
  3. Check the box saying “Use points” and optionally check the box for “Flexible dates.”
  4. On the results page, look for Qatar Airways flights among flights from other airlines.

Example redemptions:

  • New York (JFK) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 70,000 Atmos Rewards points
  • Boston (BOS) to Doha (DOH) to Cape Town (CPT) one-way for 85,000 Atmos Rewards points (stopover in Doha)
  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Doha (DOH) one-way for 85,000 Atmos Rewards points
Hot Tip:

The stopover allowance on one-way awards lets travelers visit Doha and a second city on a single redemption, which no other program on this list offers.

Bottom Line:

For one-way flights to Doha, AAdvantage and Qatar Avios are the cheapest combined point-and-cash options. Alaska Atmos Rewards is competitive from East Coast departures at the same 70,000 points.

Before You Book Qsuites

Search for award availability before transferring points. British Airways’ website and Qatar’s own search tool are reliable ways to confirm that a seat in Qsuites is actually available for the date and route you want. Once points are transferred into an airline program, they cannot be moved back, so only transfer after availability is confirmed and you are ready to ticket.

Factor in taxes and fees when comparing programs. The difference between booking through AAdvantage and British Airways Club can be $200 or more in cash, even when the mileage cost is identical. Book as early as possible: Qatar releases award space up to 361 days in advance, British Airways up to 355 days, and American Airlines up to 331 days. Finally, confirm the aircraft type for your specific flight before transferring points, as Qatar may swap aircraft without notice.

How We Selected the Best Ways To Book Qatar Airways Qsuites With Points

Programs were evaluated on points cost, surcharges and taxes, transfer partner accessibility, and award availability. JAL Mileage Bank was excluded because its 160,000-mile round-trip pricing and limited earning options now trail the 5 programs above. Read more in our credit card rating methodology.

Final Thoughts

American AAdvantage and Avios (through Qatar or British Airways) are the strongest options at 70,000 miles one-way, with AAdvantage and Qatar Avios avoiding fuel surcharges. JetBlue TrueBlue is a competitive alternative at 90,000 points with broad transfer partner access. Alaska Atmos Rewards offers stopover flexibility at 70,000 to 85,000 points one-way. Confirm aircraft type and award availability before transferring points.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many miles does it cost to book Qatar Qsuites?

One-way from the U.S. to Doha starts at 70,000 miles through American AAdvantage, Qatar Avios, British Airways Avios, and Alaska Atmos Rewards (East Coast departures). Alaska charges 85,000 points from Midwest and West Coast cities. JetBlue TrueBlue charges 90,000 points one-way.

Which programs have no fuel surcharges when booking Qsuites?

American AAdvantage, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, JetBlue TrueBlue, and Alaska Atmos Rewards do not pass along carrier-imposed surcharges. British Airways Club does, adding roughly $235 in fees on a one-way U.S.-to-Doha booking.

How do I know if my Qatar Airways flight has Qsuites?

Check the seat map for the specific flight. ExpertFlyer ($9.99 per month or $99 per year) is the most reliable tool. SeatGuru is a free alternative. Qsuites uses a 1-2-1 layout with closing suite doors. The product operates on all Airbus A350-1000s, most Boeing 777-200LRs, most Boeing 777-300ERs, and about a third of the Airbus A350-900s. Equipment swaps happen without notice, so confirm close to departure.

Can I book Qsuites online or do I need to call?

Qatar Airways Privilege Club, British Airways Club, American AAdvantage, and JetBlue TrueBlue all support online booking. Alaska Atmos Rewards online booking is available for some itineraries. Complex routings or stopover bookings may require a phone call to Alaska reservations.

How far in advance can I book Qsuites with points?

Qatar Airways releases award space up to 361 days before departure. British Airways opens 355 days out, and American Airlines opens 331 days out. Booking close to the schedule release date gives the widest selection, since Qsuites availability has tightened as the product has grown.

What is the difference between Qatar Privilege Club and British Airways Avios for booking Qsuites?

Both programs use Avios and price one-way, nonstop U.S.-to-Doha Qsuites at 70,000 Avios. The difference is fees: Qatar Avios bookings carry only modest taxes (around $60), while British Airways passes along Qatar’s carrier-imposed surcharges, raising the cash component to roughly $235. Qatar Avios is also generally cheaper on connecting itineraries, since British Airways prices each segment separately. Avios can be moved between the programs through the Avios transfer tool.
