An increasing number of airlines are offering business class seats in the first row of the cabin that convert into a more spacious, enclosed suite than the other business class seats but come at an additional cost.

Air New Zealand is among the latest airlines to adopt the “business plus” concept with its soon-to-be-launched new business class, and we now know how much these premium seats will cost.

Let’s look at the details.

Air New Zealand Business Premier Luxe Pricing

As we await the launch of Air New Zealand‘s new Business Premier product launching in 2025, details have emerged regarding the pricing for one of the extra spacious bulkhead Business Premier Luxe seats on its Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the new business class offering.

As Air New Zealand’s new B787s will feature 2 small business-class cabins, there will be a total of 8 Business Premier Luxe seats (found in the front row of each cabin), and we now have information on the pricing.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new Business Premier Luxe seats next year, coinciding with the arrival of the first retrofitted 787-9 Dreamliner in our flight schedule,” said Jeremy O’Brien, general manager international at Air New Zealand. “Although they are not currently available for booking, these will be presented as a seat select option that customers can add to their reservation for an extra fee between NZ$210 and NZ$820, excluding New Zealand, based on the route.”

Passengers flying in one of the exclusive Business Premier Luxe seats should expect a surcharge between $121 and $475 for the additional space, with pricing varying based on the route distance.

Air New Zealand has followed in the footsteps of other airlines in offering larger, enclosed business-class cabins, such as Virgin Atlantic’s Retreat Suites and JetBlue’s Mint Studio. This is done by creating roomier bulkhead seats in the business class cabin and charging passengers a surcharge in order to maximize revenue.

Bottom Line:

Air New Zealand is set to launch its newst business class, named Business Premier. The airline has revealed the pricing for its spacious bulkhead seats, known as Business Premier Luxe seats, with costs varying between $121 and $475 based on the route.

Air New Zealand’s Skynest Sleeping Pods

As we eagerly await Air New Zealand’s latest business-class offerings, we’re also monitoring the upcoming launch of the carrier’s Skynest sleeping pods. These flat-bed pods for economy passengers will soon be available for booking, providing an extra touch of comfort for travelers. But at least for now, we have a clear idea of what those will look like and how much they cost to book.

Economy passengers flying with Air New Zealand can book these cozy bunk-bed pods, which come equipped with full-length beds featuring memory foam, adjustable lighting, and handy USB power ports. Pricing will range between NZ$410 and NZ$600, or approximately $238 and $348, for 4-hour time slots.

Final Thoughts

We can expect Air New Zealand to debut a new business class product in the coming months, including a new front row Business Premier Luxe product with more space and comfort. Business-class passengers will be able to upgrade to these suites in the near future. The airline has officially revealed the pricing, which will reasonably cost between $121 and $475, depending on the flight route.
