By now, you have likely heard and seen the devastating wildfires that have affected the coastal town of Pacific Palisades and its surrounding neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

In light of the urgent need for thousands to evacuate their homes and the unfortunate loss of many people’s homes due to this devastating wildfire, Airbnb is collaborating with 211 LA to assist residents who have been displaced or compelled to evacuate, providing free, temporary housing options.

Let’s look at the details.

Airbnb Provides Short-Term Housing for Those Affected by Wildfires

Airbnb announced that it will provide temporary housing for those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

According to the home-sharing company, it’s supporting displaced residents through Airbnb.org, which is “working with 211 LA, which serves Los Angeles County, to offer free, temporary housing. Guests can enjoy stays at no cost, thanks to the support of Airbnb.org and the kindness of Airbnb hosts — many of whom graciously provide their homes for free or at a reduced rate through Airbnb.org.”

Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization established by Airbnb that offers free emergency housing during crises. The nonprofit branch of the company collaborates with nonprofits and governments to reach those affected by disasters, providing complimentary stays thanks to support from Airbnb, private donations, and generous Airbnb hosts who open their homes at no cost or at a reduced rate.

In the past, Airbnb.org has offered free temporary housing to victims displaced by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, wildfires in San Bernardino, California and Jasper, Canadafloods in Brazil, and the earthquake in Japan’s Noto Peninsula

Currently, residents who have lost their homes or have had to evacuate from the neighborhoods of Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Sylmar can seek temporary housing assistance through Airbnb.org. They can do this by completing an intake form with 211 LA, a nonprofit organization in Los Angeles County that helps connect residents with vital health and human services.

Final Thoughts

The wildfires in Los Angeles have caused thousands of residents to be displaced, and many have unfortunately lost their homes. During challenging times, it’s critical for companies to offer support to those in need, and Airbnb is making a meaningful effort to assist LA residents during this time.
