Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

If you have been searching for cheap flights to London (or beyond), look no further.

We’ve found a bunch of economy award availability on Virgin Atlantic to the U.K. and back for just 6,000 Virgin Points each way from the East Coast.

However, to sweeten the deal even further, there is a limited-time 30% transfer bonus that can bring the total cost down to 10,000 points round-trip.

Even with high taxes leaving London, this is a great deal.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Award Alert — Details

Virgin Atlantic has released a ton of award availability for travel to and from the U.S. throughout 2025. Economy seats are already a steal at just 6,000 points each way from the East Coast, but we can do better.

Through February 17, 2025, you can get a 30% bonus when you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. That means you only need 5,000 points each way or 10,000 round-trip!

We are seeing plenty of availability each way, the only difference being the taxes are higher when leaving the U.K. Just note that West Coast airports are slightly more expensive.

While we always prefer to fly up front whenever possible, sometimes a deal is too good to pass up.

With options starting at 6,000 points from the East Coast and 9,000 points from the West Coast (before the transfer bonus), you may find yourself flying to London this year.

How To Book

To make this award alert even better, finding these seats is easy to do.

Virgin Atlantic has its own reward seat checker, which clearly displays which and when award seats are available:

Alternatively, you could use a third-party tool such as seats.aero, which will populate even more options across multiple programs if needed:

For this example, both tools are accurate and easy to use.

Once you have found a flight that works for you and are ready to book, simply log into your Chase account and transfer the amount of points you need.

If you don’t have Chase points, don’t worry. You can also transfer points from American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One Miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, Marriott Bonvoy, and Wells Fargo Rewards — just without a bonus.

Since you will still be on the hook for taxes and fees, consider paying with The Platinum Card® from American Express. It earns 5x Membership Rewards points per $1 spent on flights booked directly with the airline or through AmexTravel.com (capped at $500,000 spent in purchases per calendar year, then 1x points).

Plus, the card comes with a Priority Pass membership (enrollment required), so you can enjoy the lounge before your flight, even when flying economy.

Hot Tip:

Use the Upgraded Points Transfer Partner Tool to calculate exactly how many points you need to transfer.

Final Thoughts

Flying on Virgin Atlantic is a great experience, even in economy. And paying 5,000 points each way makes this one of the better deals we have seen.

With round-trip flights across the pond for fewer points than many domestic flights, this could be your sign to book a trip to London this year. Just beware that taxes and fees are higher on the return.
