There’s a new way to add STARLUX Airlines miles to your account — without stepping foot on a plane.

The Taiwan-based carrier has started selling miles through its COSMILE loyalty program. The price is steep, but the move means there’s now another path to book STARLUX premium awards, including its particularly hard-to-book first class.

Here’s what you need to know.

You Can Now Buy STARLUX COSMILE Miles

STARLUX COSMILE members can now purchase miles directly through their accounts.

Miles cost 4 cents each, with purchases starting at 1,000 miles. Members can buy up to 150,000 miles per transaction, which is also the maximum number of miles that can be purchased each year.

To buy miles, log in to your STARLUX account, head to the COSMILE section, and select Mileage Purchase.

At 4 cents per mile, buying a large number of miles gets expensive quickly. For example, buying 100,000 miles would cost $4,000, while purchasing the full 150,000-mile annual limit would set you back $6,000.

Still, there’s one interesting use case: STARLUX first class.

Booking STARLUX business class with Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points has generally been the more accessible option. First class is another story, as booking the carrier’s long-haul first class cabin with miles has been practically impossible.

STARLUX currently charges 120,000 COSMILE miles one-way in first class between Asia and the Americas or Europe. That means buying all 120,000 miles would cost $4,800. Beginning with tickets issued October 1, 2026, the award will increase to 130,000 miles one-way.

That’s certainly not cheap, but it could be worth comparing against cash fares when first class tickets are particularly expensive. Still, unless a special promotion significantly reduces the cost of 4 cents per mile, purchasing these miles won’t make sense for most travelers.

Hot Tip:

If you decide to buy STARLUX miles, keep in mind that STARLUX sells them through Points.com, so the purchase typically won’t earn a travel-category bonus. Consider using a card that earns strong rewards on everyday purchases or non-bonus spending.

Final Thoughts

STARLUX selling COSMILE miles gives travelers another way to book with the airline, but at 4 cents per mile, most travelers will be better off passing on this option, even for premium-cabin redemptions.

That said, it’ll be worth watching to see whether STARLUX eventually offers bonuses or discounts on mileage purchases, which could make this option considerably more appealing.
