If you’ve got the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card, the good news is that nothing is changing. If you wanted to apply for the card, though, you’re out of luck. That’s because Capital One has closed applications for this credit card.

Here’s what you need to know about the changes and other options for similar credit credits offering bonus cash-back on dining and entertainment.

Capital One Savor Card Closed to New Applicants

As of July 16, 2024, applications for the Capital One Savor card are closed. Thus, if you don’t have this card already, you can’t get it.

If you navigate to Capital One’s “all credit cards” page, you won’t find this card listed. And existing application links found elsewhere online no longer work.

That’s bad news if you were looking for a credit card offering bonus cash-back on dining, entertainment, streaming services, and grocery stores with a reasonable annual fee.

Existing Cardholders Aren’t Affected

The good news here is that existing Capital One Savor cardholders can continue using their credit cards. These accounts aren’t closing and won’t be changed to a different credit card.

“Beginning July 16, Capital One will no longer accept new applications for the Savor card,” according to a spokesperson for Capital One. “Existing Savor cardholders will not be impacted by this change and can continue to use their cards as they normally would without interruption.”

Bottom Line:

If you’ve got this card, there’s no action required on your part. As of now, these cards aren’t closing or converting to another card.

Other Credit Cards To Consider

If you were thinking about applying for the Capital One Savor card, what are your other options? Luckily, you have a few.

The most natural option is the Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card with a $0 annual fee. This card earns 5% cash-back on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 3% cash-back on dining, entertainment, popular streaming services, and at grocery stores, and 1% back on other purchases. You’ll also earn 8% cash-back on purchases from Capital One Entertainment.

Final Thoughts

The Capital One Savor card is closed to new applicants. If you’re looking for a similar card with a modest annual fee that provides cash-back in similar categories, there are other options still available — and that’s the silver lining.
