Delta will connect Honolulu (HNL) with nonstop service to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND) for the first time ever, starting this fall.

The Atlanta-based carrier will inaugurate service between the capital cities of Hawaii and Japan on October 28, 2023.

“As travel demand gradually recovers in Japan, we decided to add the new Honolulu service to our HND network,” said Victor Osumi, managing director and president of Japan at Delta. “Customers will enjoy more options and destinations from Haneda, with Delta’s unparalleled premium experience on the ground and in the air.”

Here’s everything we know about Delta’s newest up-coming service between Hawaii and Japan.

Delta Adds Another Nonstop Service to Tokyo Narita

The jets Delta has decided to deploy on the route are its fleet of ageing Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The jets comprise 26 seats in Delta One (business class), 18 seats in the 2-2-2-configured Delta Premium Select (premium economy) cabin, 21 Delta Comfort+ seats (economy plus), and 151 regular economy seats.

Despite their age, which can be up to 33 years old, Delta is currently going through the process of retrofitting these jets with more up-to-date seating including Delta Premium Select — the airline’s relatively new premium economy product.

The cheapest round-trip economy fares start at $779 and are widely available from October 2023 through June 2024.

If you’d prefer to relax in one of Delta’s lie-flat Delta One seats, then the lowest round-trip cash prices we’re seeing start at $3,171. Note that these seats were not replaced during the retrofit, rather they were given a facelift.

Hot Tip:

Rather than forking out your hard-earned cash for a business-class flight with Delta, we recommend considering one of these credit cards which will earn you a ton of air miles and afford you additional awesome perks like lounge access, free checked bags, priority boarding, and more!

Final Thoughts

Delta is giving its Honolulu-based travelers more travel opportunities by launching its new route to Tokyo-Haneda. Now, travelers from the continental United States who are flying on Delta can make a stop in Honolulu on their journey to or from Japan.
