Mickey’s Toontown temporarily closed in early 2022 to make room for the reimagined neighborhood at the Disneyland Resort in Southern California.
The new Toontown features outdoor space and new interactive attractions and sensory experiences for younger children visiting the park to enjoy. There is also a new grassy area for families to enjoy.
Here’s everything you can expect at the latest addition to Disneyland as part of the Disney100 celebration.
New Attractions
Mickey’s Toontown will feature old and new favorites alike while addressing the need for more outdoor space for Disneyland’s youngest visitors.
Located adjacent to Fantasyland, Walt Disney Imagineers designed Toontown to include companion restrooms, a quiet area for decompression, and curb-free space to make it easier for guests with differing abilities to get around.
There are also 4 new attractions to look forward to at the new Mickey’s Toontown:
CenTOONial Park is the first space that visitors enter and has a fountain with water tables for sensory play and a dreaming tree with sculpted roots designed for crawling and exploring.
Donald’s Duck Pond is a splash pad decked out with spinning water lilies, balance beams, and rocking toys.
Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard is a sound garden where children are encouraged to make all kinds of unique noises as well as operate an interactive candy-making machine.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a train ride through the beloved characters’ cartoon world. With no height or age restriction, each member of the family can enjoy this attraction.
There are also 2 all-new dining options — Café Daisy serves unique spins on diner classics, including plant-based options, and Good Boy! Grocers is a farmers market stand with grab-and-go drinks and snacks. Novelties sold at Good Boy! include the Souvenir Slushee Sipper and Perfect Picnic Basket.
Returning Rides and Character Sightings
Disney park lovers can expect the return of select Toontown attractions such as Mickey’s House, Minnie’s House, Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, and the updated Chip ‘n’ Dale’s GADGETcoaster.
Micky Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Pluto, Clarabelle, Goofy, and Pete will make appearances, with Mickey donning a special new outfit when he greets visitors outside of his home.
Final Thoughts
The reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will provide a space for families with young children visiting Disneyland. Grassy areas and attractions with no height or age requirements will be a welcome value-add to a Disneyland vacation. The park is also making a positive step to address the differing abilities and sensory processing needs of its youngest visitors.
