Hertz is back with a new rental car promotion — and it could save you up to 50% if you’re renting a car and headed south for the winter. Plus, you can still get a 25% discount if you rent a Jeep by the end of the summer.

Let’s take a look at the details of these 2 promotions.

Up to 50% off One-Way Rentals From Select Cities

As travelers head south for the winter, Hertz needs help moving its cars.

Because of this, you can get up to 50% off one-way rentals from select northern states when you drop off in Florida. This promotion is valid on bookings made by August 31, 2025, for rentals picked up between August 24, 2025, and February 28, 2026.

This promotion applies to one-way rentals of 1 days or longer picked up at participating locations in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin and dropped off in Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, Palm Beach, Atlanta, Nashville and Pensacola, Florida.

How much you save depends on the type of car you rent:

  • Manager special, economy, compact, midsize, standard, full-size, small SUV, and regular SUVs: 50% discount
  • Minivans, large SUVs, and premium large SUVs: 25% discount

You can take advantage of this promotion by booking through this landing page on Hertz’s website or using promo code 211920. It’s only valid on “pay later” bookings made with 24-hour notice.

20% off Jeep Rentals

Beyond the summer’s end, you can also save 20% on the base rate when you rent a Jeep for a minimum of 2 days at participating Hertz locations in the U.S.

This offer also requires reservations to be made with at least 24 hours’ notice and is valid for pickup through September 30, 2025. Promotion code 211857 must be provided at the time of reservation.

Hot Tip:

Learn everything there is to know about the Hertz Gold Plus rewards program in our complete guide.

Earlier this year, Hertz said in a statement that it’s making a fleet of 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid vehicles available for rent in major cities in the U.S., where it is the top-selling plug-in hybrid (a vehicle that uses electric power in addition to a combustion engine).

Some renters, Hertz said, may find an exclusive Hertz-Jeep rubber duck in their Jeep rental, which will unlock even more discounts and free upgrades for future rentals.

Are These Discounts Worth It?

These promotions are undoubtedly a good way to save on a Hertz rental car, but you might be eligible for a better discount.

For example, if you hold The Platinum Card® from American Express, you can use code CDP #211762 to get a discounted rate year-round, plus a complimentary 4-hour grace period on returns. Other credit cards may offer similar perks at Hertz and other rental car companies.

Hot Tip:

Consider paying for your rental car with a credit card that includes a rental car damage waiver. This way, you don’t have to pay a daily fee and aren’t liable for damage incurred to the vehicle.

Your employer, alumni association, or professional group may also have Hertz corporate discount codes available. These can provide significant savings and other perks, like an included damage waiver or extra drivers.

Because of this, you should always compare the price you see from these promotions to other prices for which you’re eligible. Additionally, compare the price of booking a rental car with Hertz to other rental car companies like Avis and National. There are a handful of websites that can automate this process for you.

Final Thoughts

Hertz is offering up to a 50% discount on one-way rentals from select U.S. states when you drop off in Florida. And if you’re renting a Jeep this summer, Hertz offers the vehicles at 20% off. If you choose a Wrangler 4xe, you may find a special rubber duck inside your rental, which unlocks further savings.

These discounts are a great way to save on upcoming rentals. However, you should always compare the price you see to discounts you may have through a credit card, your company, or other organizations you belong to.
