IHG has announced that the InterContinental brand will return to Serbia after 20 years, with the InterContinental Belgrade set to open in 2026.

Let’s take a look at this upcoming luxury hotel.

InterContinental Belgrade Slated To Open in Late 2026

The InterContinental Belgrade will be located in the “Delta District,” a new mixed-use development in Belgrade’s business and financial center. It will offer direct connections from the city’s newly renovated Sava Centar, the largest convention and exhibition space in the region.

The 203-room hotel will include 28 premium rooms, 15 junior suites, 2 superior suites, 2 executive suites, and a presidential suite with panoramic views of the city. This will be the InterContinental brand’s return to Serbia’s capital city of Belgrade 20 years after leaving the city.

Amenities will include a breathtaking sky pool, rooftop restaurant and bar, and terrace complete with fine dining. Guests will also get to enjoy a spa and fitness center, ballroom, lobby lounge, café, patisserie, and additional meeting spaces for business travelers.

“Our world-renowned InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand has been pioneering luxury travel for more than 75 years, and it’s great to bring it back to Serbia, a country that has enjoyed a surge in tourism in recent years,” said Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “Its reputation as a business and investment powerhouse, together with its rich artistic heritage, fascinating history dating back over 7,000 years, and exquisite cuisine, makes it the ideal destination for locals and international visitors alike.”

The hotel is expected to open for guests in late 2026.

Hot Tip:

The InterContinental Belgrade will be IHG’s fourth property in Serbia, following Crowne Plaza Belgrade, Hotel Indigo Belgrade, and Holiday Inn Belgrade.

Booking IHG Hotels in Serbia

Even though InterContinental Belgrade won’t open for a few years, there are plenty of ways to earn IHG One Rewards points when the time comes to book a stay.

In fact, some of the best ways to redeem IHG points are at hotels in Serbia. That’s because points (and cash) rates in the region are incredibly low, even at luxury resorts!

Some of our favorite hotels in the country include the Hotel Indigo Belgrade (starting at $198 or 40,000 points per night this fall) and the Crowne Plaza Belgrade (starting at $160 or 28,000 points this fall).

IHG One Rewards points are pretty easy to earn. The chain offers 3 co-branded IHG credit cards, which are issued by Chase in the U.S. Additionally, if you have Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points, you can transfer them to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

IHG already has 3 hotels in Serbia. When the InterContinental Belgrade opens in 2024, it will be by far the most luxurious IHG option in the country. Along with this hotel, IHG has a growing portfolio of nearly 20 other properties in the Balkans. We can’t wait to see this hotel when it’s all set up and ready to welcome guests.
