JetBlue and Icelandair are expanding their longstanding partnership. JetBlue TrueBlue members can now redeem points for Icelandair flights, giving members a new way to book award flights to Iceland and the rest of Europe. This news was first reported by AwardWallet.

These awards can be booked directly on JetBlue’s website. Here’s how to book Icelandair tickets with TrueBlue points and how much you can expect to pay for award tickets.

Booking Icelandair Flights With JetBlue TrueBlue Points

As mentioned, you can book Icelandair award tickets on JetBlue’s website. Pricing is dynamic and changes based on when you fly, your origin, and your destination. For example, the lowest price we found on the New York (JFK) to Reykjavik (KEF) route is 17,000 points in economy.

However, this same route costs 31,800 points in economy on other dates we checked.

Icelandair has an extensive route network from its Reykjavik (KEF) hub to other European cities, and you can book connecting tickets from the U.S. However, these will cost more points. For example, Portland (PDX) to Prague (PRG) cost 63,600 points on this sample date.

Icelandair is one of the few airlines that flies to Greenland, and you can book these flights with TrueBlue points. Pricing varies, but we found flights from Reykjavik (KEF) to Nuuk (GOH) in economy class for 9,800 points this October.

We recommend not booking business class awards if possible. These are significantly more expensive than economy awards, even on short flights from the East Coast. Further, Icelandair is one of the few transatlantic airlines that does not have lie-flat business class seats.

Also, note that JetBlue TrueBlue isn’t your only option for booking Icelandair flights with points and miles. Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan and Icelandair also have a partnership, and these awards are priced based on Alaska’s distance-based award chart. Check Alaska and JetBlue’s websites to find the best deal if you have both award currencies available. Moreover, Icelandair’s new partnership with Southwest Airlines will provide additional options as that partnership expands.

Final Thoughts

JetBlue TrueBlue members can now book Icelandair flights with their points. At first glance, there are some good deals to be had, depending on when you travel, with economy awards from the U.S. to Iceland starting at 17,000 points one-way. Plus, you can add connecting fights to other European cities or even fly to cities in Greenland that have historically been expensive to reach.

That said, thanks to dynamic pricing, these awards can become more expensive depending on when you search. As always, compare your booking options and the cost of a cash ticket before you book. If cash fares are low, consider saving your TrueBlue points for a future booking.
