Unfortunately, the opening of one of the coolest hotels in Hyatt’s portfolio has been pushed back to next year. We’re talking about the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a luxury property opening in Malaysia’s chic new skyscraper.

Here’s what we know about the new opening timeline, as well as some details of this unique hotel.

Details of the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will be located in the Merdeka 118 skyscraper — the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific. But we should clarify that it won’t just be “in” the Merdeka 118. No, this hotel will occupy the top 17 floors of this monolith. That means all elements of the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur will be at least 100 stories up.

The Merdeka 118 opened in January 2024 and is 2,227 feet tall. When announcing its 2024 hotel openings, Hyatt said it planned to open the Park Hyatt here around the same time.

After arriving on the ground floor, guests will ascend to the Park Hyatt’s reception facilities to check in. The hotel will hold 232 rooms, including 28 suites and 30 residential apartments.

While exact details of the hotel are still being finalized, we can learn a few things from the hotel’s renderings. For example, we know that the hotel will have a spa, a pool, event facilities, and several food and beverage outlets. Executive Chef Stig Drageide and Executive Pastry Chef Holger Deh will head up these offerings, according to The Malaysian Reserve.

Hotel designs also show open layouts in the guest rooms and suites to maximize space.

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur was originally set to open in 2021, then that date was pushed back to the end of 2024. Now, it’s expected to open in the second quarter of 2025, meaning sometime between April and June. However, there’s no confirmed opening date yet, and the hotel isn’t accepting reservations at this time.

You can see additional renderings and photos of the hotel here.

Booking the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur on Points

As the hotel isn’t accepting reservations yet, we don’t know what cash prices will look like. However, the hotel is listed as a Category 4 property on the World of Hyatt website, meaning standard rates will cost 15,000 points per night.

Conversely, with Hyatt’s peak and off-peak pricing, you may pay as few as 12,000 points per night or as much as 18,000 points.

Being in Category 4 is a great sweet spot in World of Hyatt, as this luxury property will be available with Category 1-4 free night awards. However, the value these award bookings provide won’t be fully understood until we see the hotel’s cash rates.

Hot Tip:

Want to earn a Category 1-4 free night award with Hyatt? You can earn these from Milestone Rewards, Brand Explorer stays, and even The World of Hyatt Credit Card.

Final Thoughts

The Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur looks incredible, but its opening date remains both delayed and unknown. However, once it’s available for bookings, you’ll be able to book with points or free night awards — or with cash, depending on what the rates look like.
