You can now fly nonstop between France and Australia, thanks to Qantas’ new service from Perth (PER) to Paris (CDG) — just in time for the Olympics.

This is the first time the 2 cities have been connected with nonstop service in over 20 years. Here are the details.

Qantas’ Nonstop Service From Perth to Paris

Flight QF33 took off for the first time from Perth at 7:53 p.m. local time on July 12, 2024, with a scheduled flight time of 16 hours and 12 minutes.

When the 6-year-old Dreamliner lands at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport on the morning of July 13, the French capital city will join London and Rome as Qantas’ third European destination with nonstop service from Perth.

The Dreamliners operating the route feature 42 lie-flat seats in business class, 28 extra legroom and extra recline seats in premium economy, and 166 regular seats in economy.

The flight is scheduled to operate 3 times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from Perth and returning the Australia the following day.

A fourth weekly service is planned to depart Perth for Paris on Sundays: July 14, 21, 20, and August 4.

Qantas Plans More Ultra-Long-Haul Flights to London and New York

It’s long been Qantas’ goal to offer nonstop flights from Melbourne and Sydney to London and New York, which we’re now not expecting to take wing until at least 2026.

Given the distance of around 10,000 miles, the aircraft needed to operate those routes requires modifications, including an extra fuel tank.

These ultra-long-haul flights could take more than 20 hours, so the cabins of the Airbus A350s set to operate the routes have been carefully designed to make the mammoth journey as comfortable as possible for passengers — no matter their cabin class.

As it stands, you can already fly nonstop from the U.S. to Australia, but only from the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii to Australia’s East Coast cities of Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.

There are the routes you can currently fly:

  • Brisbane to Los Angeles
  • Melbourne to Dallas
  • Melbourne to Los Angeles
  • Sydney to Dallas
  • Sydney to Honolulu
  • Sydney to Los Angeles
  • Sydney to San Francisco

There’s also a nonstop from Auckland to New York, which starts its journey as a flight from Sydney to Auckland.

Final Thoughts

Qantas is slowly but surely building out its ultra-long-haul route network as Paris joins the list of European destinations with a nonstop service to Australia.

The countdown is now officially on for the nonstop flights from New York to Melbourne and Sydney.
