Sun Country may not be the first airline that comes to mind, especially if you don’t live in the Upper Midwest. The Minneapolis-based carrier primarily flies leisure routes from Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) to domestic destinations, as well as Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.

Now, the Sun Country Visa Signature® card is offering 35,000 points — 10,000 more than its usual welcome bonus offer — making it worth a look for regular Sun Country flyers.

Here are the details of this new bonus offer.

Earn 35,000 Points With the Sun Country Card

The Sun Country card, issued by Synchrony Bank, is offering 35,000 points after you spend $1,500 within the first 90 days. You must apply by September 18, 2026, to qualify.

That’s 10,000 points more than the card’s usual offer. Since Sun Country points are worth 1 cent each, the bonus is worth $350.

The elevated offer is better than usual on this card, but it’s still a pass for most travelers. Screenshot: Synchrony website

The card has an $89 annual fee and earns points in the following categories:

  • 5x points on Sun Country purchases — 3x when booking and 2x after completing the trip
  • 2x points at gas stations and grocery stores
  • 1x point on everything else

Cardholders also get 50% off their first checked bag and Best or Standard seat selections for themselves and 1 travel companion. Other perks include Zone 2 boarding, 25% off inflight food and drinks, 1 complimentary premium drink per flight, and no foreign transaction fees.

Additionally, cardholders can get a 10,000-point anniversary bonus by spending $10,000 on purchases with the card during a cardmember year. Spending $10,000 by the end of 2026 also unlocks Sun Country Plus status.

This offer won’t make sense for most travelers, especially since the $89 annual fee isn’t waived for the first year and the points are limited to Sun Country’s rewards program. Still, regular Sun Country flyers who value bag and seat discounts may find enough value to justify applying.

Hot Tip:

Unless you regularly fly Sun Country, you’ll likely be better off with a travel rewards card that earns transferable points or a cobranded airline card from a larger carrier. Either option will provide you with more ways to use your rewards, including flights with airline partners.

Final Thoughts

This elevated offer is a nice improvement over the card’s usual 25,000-point bonus, but it’s really only worth considering if you fly Sun Country regularly and can use its bag and seat discounts. Otherwise, paying an $89 annual fee for points with limited redemption options probably won’t make sense.
