Turo is a popular peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace where car owners can list their personal vehicles for others to rent. People often refer to Turo as “the Airbnb of car rentals.”

United Airlines has teamed up with Turo to provide travelers the chance to earn MileagePlus miles with each Turo rental.

Let’s look at the details of this new partnership.

United and Turo Partnership Details

Turo is the largest platform for sharing cars directly between people. Today, Turo announced a new partnership with United Airlines that lets travelers earn MileagePlus miles on every Turo trip.

If you frequently rent cars from the peer-to-peer platform instead of traditional rental companies, you’ll now be able to earn United miles from your Turo rental.

Through this new partnership, United customers can earn 5x miles per $1 spent on their first Turo booking and 1x mile per $1 on every Turo rental thereafter.

“Turo is excited to partner with United Airlines to reward travelers with MileagePlus miles for choosing Turo,” said Turo Vice President, Business and Corporate Development, Andro Vrdoljak. “Our vast network of hosts in over 16,000 cities provides United travelers with convenient access to a wide variety of vehicles, allowing them to earn miles wherever their travels take them.”

In case you’re not familiar with Turo, the peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace is well known for offering a wide selection of vehicles for customers to choose from, ranging from economical cars to luxury models and even some unique or vintage options that are harder to find with traditional rental car companies.

It also provides convenient delivery options, such as airport, neighborhood, and doorstep delivery, which are some of the appealing features of the platform.

Is It Worth It?

Similarly, Turo has a partnership with Delta Air Lines that allows travelers to earn 2,000 Delta SkyMiles after completing their first trip with Turo and 500 miles on subsequent trips, which is a nice perk. However, if you prefer to earn United miles and occasionally rent a car through Turo or are considering doing so, there’s no reason you shouldn’t take advantage of this new partnership.

To earn United miles on your next Turo rental, you’ll need to link your United MileagePlus account (or create one for free) to your Turo account. You can link accounts on Turo’s dedicated page.

Final Thoughts

Turo and United have launched a new partnership that allows members to earn United miles when they book and complete a Turo trip. This is excellent news for Turo users looking to accrue bonus miles on their upcoming car rentals with the peer-to-peer car-sharing platform.
