Priority Pass and Lounge Key members now have access to LAX’s hottest new airport lounge.

For a fee of $35, Priority Pass and Lounge Key members departing from the Tom Bradley International Terminal can wine and dine in Virgin’s brand-new LAX Clubhouse.

“The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX offers a truly unique and elevated experience for our members, ensuring they can relax and unwind in style before their flight,” said Christopher Evans, CEO at Collinson International — the company that owns and operates Priority Pass and Lounge Key.

Here’s what we know.

Virgin’s New LAX Clubhouse Accepting Some Lounge Memberships

Virgin Atlantic’s luxurious new Clubhouse at LAX, which only opened its doors in March, is already accepting passengers with Priority Pass and Lounge Key memberships.

Access will come with an additional one-time $35 entry fee on top of the membership fee that the passenger pays for their Lounge Key or Priority Pass. If you don’t have guest privileges with your membership, you’ll pay the $35 fee on top of your normal per-guest fee with your membership.

Priority Pass’ top-level Prestige package is supposed to grant unlimited access to Priority Pass lounges without ever paying a fee. Unfortunately, Virgin’s Clubhouse at LAX is an exception to this rule. Unfortunately, the $35 fee still applies to those who get their lounge access membership for free as a perk of a credit card.

As per the Priority Pass website, Virgin’s Clubhouse is the only lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) in Los Angeles available for Priority Pass and Lounge Key members to use.

Guests can access the lounge 3 hours prior to their departing flight, available between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Some lounge pass members might find it harsh to be charged $35 to use the only lounge available to them at TBIT. Whether or not this surplus will deter passengers from using the space remains to be seen.

Hot Tip:

If you’re a frequent flyer, then having a Priority Pass membership can save you a ton of money when passing through the airport. There are 3 memberships which cost $79, $279, and $469, and they come with different levels of access. However, you can also get a membership for free with some travel rewards credit cards.

Is the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse at LAX Worth $35?

If you’re already paying for a Priority Pass or Lounge Key membership, then I could understand feeling frustrated at having to pay $35 more for access to the only Priority Pass lounge in TBIT.

However, I’ve visited this lounge twice myself already, and it truly is a magnificent space.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to eat a hearty meal before flying, then a visit to the Clubhouse at LAX will be worth every cent of the $35 fee.

One of the best things about the lounge is the ability to order freshly cooked meals directly to your seat. The menu is small but offers an excellent selection of British, U.S., and Asian dishes with a twist.

Alternatively, passengers can fill up a plate from the self-service brasserie.

You’d probably end up spending more than $35 at a fast food joint in the terminal otherwise.

For $35, you’ll be able to drink and dine to your heart’s content inside the Clubhouse. I highly recommend the fish and chips.

On the other hand, if you get through security and have only 30-45 minutes before you board, I wouldn’t recommend spending the $35. You won’t have time to get enough value for your money.

Hot Tip:

Priority Pass and Lounge Key members also have access to Virgin’s Clubhouse at JFK. The difference is that it’s free!

Final Thoughts

Virgin’s new Clubhouse at LAX is accepting Priority Pass and Lounge Key members just a month after opening — a change from the information we received when the lounge opened, stating clearly at that time that Priority Pass access wasn’t under consideration at this lounge.

Despite the $35 surplus charge, passengers who have time to enjoy delicious food and a well-stocked bar will certainly get value for their money.
