As someone who writes for Upgraded Points, I’m used to traveling to fun places. So when a fun property opened near my home in Houston, my family naturally had to see it for themselves.

In mid-December 2024, I visited Great Wolf Lodge Webster with my family of 5. The Houston-area property opened in August 2024. We’d visited Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine in the Dallas-Fort Worth area twice and were all eager to check out the new lodge close to home.

We were pleased to find a spacious suite, a fun water park, family-friendly activities, and great service.

Booking Great Wolf Lodge Webster

I booked a Deluxe Wolf Den Suite at Great Wolf Lodge Webster for 2 nights, which included water park access, and paid $372.04, including taxes and fees. The lodge took a 50% deposit; the remaining 50% was on my final bill when we checked out.

I paid $372 for 2 nights at Great Wolf Lodge Webster. Image Credit: Great Wolf Lodge

We took advantage of a very low mid-December rate and booked 9 months in advance to get this deal. The same room goes for an average of $1,149 per night during spring break!

Booking an off-peak date early saved us nearly $2,000 compared to peak rates. Image Credit: Great Wolf Lodge

All told, with the room rate, activities pass, food, and merchandise, we spent $749. I used my Chase Sapphire Reserve® to book the room and pay our final bill when we checked out, which earned me 3 points per $1 — 2,220 points total.

Hot Tip:

The price of a stay at Great Wolf Lodge Webster varies significantly depending on when you visit and book. We saved big by booking early and staying during the low season.

Location of Great Wolf Lodge Webster

Great Wolf Lodge Webster’s location is one of the best things about it, at least from my Houston-area perspective. My family has visited Great Wolf Grapevine in the Dallas-Fort Worth area twice, and it was a huge relief to drive only about an hour to Webster, including traffic, instead of making the minimum 4-hour trek northward to Grapevine.

The area surrounding Great Wolf Lodge Webster has numerous attractions, restaurants, and shopping. On our drive down to the lodge, we easily picked up tacos, and other nearby restaurants serve seafood, fried chicken, burgers, and barbecue. Costco, Target, and Baybrook Mall are all within a 10-minute drive.

Space Center Houston is only 4 miles from Great Wolf Lodge Webster, less than a 10-minute drive. Next time we visit, I’ll add another night so we can conveniently spend a day at NASA. Challenger Seven Memorial Park is less than a 10-minute drive from the lodge.

A Topgolf is practically next door for entertainment beyond the lodge, just a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute drive. Cinemark and Main Event are less than a 5-minute drive from the lodge.

Checking In

We arrived in the evening. However, we could have gotten to the lodge and visited the water park as early as 9 a.m. and checked in as early as 4 p.m. on our arrival day.

The entrance and lobby were decked out for the holidays with lights and greenery. We found plenty of space and clear directions as we parked under the portico to check in.

The front entrance had festive holiday lights.

We could check in with a person or at a kiosk. I had questions and wanted to purchase a Wolf Pass, so I went to the desk, where someone helped me immediately.

Great Wolf Lodge Webster check in desk
I liked the wooden wolf art behind the desk.

Checking in was like at any other hotel. I put my credit card on file, got directions to our room, and confirmed our information. As I checked in, I also purchased a Wolf Pass for $89.99.

I received wristbands for all of us to wear in the lodge, which got us into the water park and opened the door to our room. The adult bands were connected to our room account, so we could use our bands to make purchases. We didn’t have to bring wallets or phones with us for money, just our wristbands. That was convenient, especially when visiting the water park.

Hot Tip:

Although we have 3 kids, we only buy a single pass for Great Wolf Lodge visits. We get the highest pass level, Wolf Pass, and let our kids choose how they want to split up the pass activities. This has been enough for us on all 3 of our 2-night visits. More details on the Wolf Pass can be found in the Adventure Park section.

Resort Fee

The $9.99 nightly resort fee included:

  • Complimentary wolf ears
  • In-room coffee and minifridge
  • Life jackets and towels
  • Lobby entertainment
  • Virtual concierge
  • Wi-Fi

Lobby

I was impressed by the lobby. It had a huge, double-sided fireplace and grand circular lanterns overhead. There were numerous places to sit, from small round ottomans to rocking chairs and loungers.

One of the greatest features was the lobby’s ambience, which featured dimmed nighttime lights. The upper walls had television screens with tree scenes that changed from green in the day to blue at night.

The fireplace was central to the lobby, just inside the front door and between the check-in desk and gift shop. This was where all the lobby activities took place. The wolf art above the mantel was also a screen that sometimes changed depending on the activity.

The lobby fireplace was a hub of activity.

The ambiance extended into the adventure park, the gateway to all activities, quick service food, and the water park. All of the activities were convenient to the lobby and guestrooms. It was so much easier to get around Great Wolf Lodge Webster than Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine.

Walking through the adventure park portal from the lobby was engaging, with lights and sounds within.

The theming was excellent, and I was delighted to walk under the tree canopy lights as we made our way through the lodge. When the lodge was quiet at night, we could hear forest sounds in the lobby, especially under the tree canopy.

Guest Room

The Deluxe Wolf Den Suite combined 2 guest rooms. It could accommodate 12 people, with beds for 6 in each room. The first room had a wolf den, a small room within the room for the kids.

It had bunk beds, a small table, and a window to peek out. The walls had forest scenes.

There was intense negotiation among my kids for these bunks!

Next to the wolf den was a queen-size bed with nightstands on either side, followed by a pullout sofa and trunk table.

One of the nightstands had a phone, alarm clock, and remote. It also had outlets available, with a regular outlet and 2 USB-A outlets in the nightstand and another USB-A on the alarm clock.

The other room had 2 queen beds and another pullout sofa.

This side of the suite had room for 6 adults.

There was a single nightstand between the queen beds, identical to the one in the other room.

A couple of lantern lights were above the nightstand.

The pullout sofas on either side functioned as seating during the day and could be used for sleeping at night.

Both rooms had pullout sofas.

We also had small tables and chairs in both rooms. A door behind the table set connected the rooms. It was nice to have tables and chairs on both sides, but these only offered dining space for 4 in a suite meant for 12.

Great Wolf Lodge Webster guestroom table
I appreciated having dining space, but it didn’t fit the room’s occupancy.

Next to the tables and across from the beds were shelving units, the same in both rooms. They featured open shelving — there were no drawers in these rooms — and a minifridge, wall-mounted TV, coffee maker, and ice bucket.

Great Wolf Lodge Webster guestroom shelves and TV
The shelving unit had a TV, minifridge, and coffee supplies.

The TV had a guide with channels, including the resort channel and Great Wolf Lodge cartoon programming. We could also sign in to various streaming apps, including Netflix.

Unlike in Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine, we didn’t have an in-room microwave. I found the microwaves helpful in Grapevine, as we usually eat breakfast and lunch in our rooms at Great Wolf Lodge.

The rooms had minifridges but no microwave.

However, a microwave was available on our floor with the ice machine. It was convenient on this stay because we were placed in a room right next to it, but I’m sure it was a hike for other guests on our floor.

Bathrooms

A sink and counter were near the room entrances and across from the bathrooms. I liked having this space separate from the rest of the bathroom, and it doubled as a kitchen sink.

The sinks had wall-mounted Great Wolf Lodge body lotion. We also found QR codes for placing mobile orders for pickup at one of the restaurants downstairs.

The soap dishes had adorable paw print soaps.

These were so cute!

Both sides had bathrooms! It was such a relief to have 2 bathrooms available so we could all get through the shower quickly after visiting the water park. These featured shower-and-tub combos with curved shower curtain rods for extra space.

The showers had wall-mounted Great Wolf Lodge conditioning shampoo and shower gel.

The shower didn’t have a clothesline string like Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine did. Staying in a double room suite with hanging racks on both sides, we didn’t miss the clothesline — but we wouldn’t have had enough room for all of our wet swimsuits if we’d been in a single room.

Both rooms had open closets where we could hang wet swimsuits.

We had a nice view of the outdoor pool and water park slides.

Amenities

As a water park resort with numerous activities, Great Wolf Lodge Webster was heavy on amenities. It had an indoor-outdoor water park, activities in the adventure park, lobby activities, and a conference center.

Great Geyser Water Park

The water park was Great Wolf Lodge Webster’s main attraction. It was mostly indoors, but an outdoor pool was closed for the season. A busy hot tub was open outside, but I wasn’t brave enough to sprint out of the hot water and into the cold air. Regardless of the weather, the indoor pools are said to be heated to 84 degrees year-round.

The water park was laid out with big slides, an obstacle course pool, a lazy river, and a fort with small slides on the left. In the middle was a bar, and to the right was the wave pool. A splash pad was in the very back, and quick-service dining, towels, and restrooms with lockers and showers were at the front.

The gated splash pad had a small slide and interactive water play features.

I liked the lazy river at Great Wolf Lodge Webster better than the one in Grapevine. It seemed slightly longer and had plenty of tubes available. However, it was too narrow to get around easily with traffic and had lots of awkward water spurts from the fort overhead.

The fort was extensive, with a dump bucket and 4 slides that my kids found approachable but thrilling.

There were 5 large waterslides, including a body slide, flume slide, and 3 tube slides. My husband and teen tried them all and had a blast, though they said these slides were less thrilling than the slides at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine.

Families could ride the River Canyon Run slide together.

A pool near the big slides had basketball and 2 balance courses. I liked having 2 of these courses because my kids never had to wait long for their turn.

The wave pool was the largest water attraction. The waves ran about every 10 minutes, and there was a beach-style entry with splash features near the entrance.

Cabanas surrounded the wave pool.

Seating was available throughout the water park, and we never had trouble finding a spot to drop our shoes.

We could walk outside to the hot tub and seasonal outdoor pool, but only the hot tub was open.

Towels were available at the counter in the water park gift shop. We could check out 1 towel per room guest at a time and had to return them by the end of our stay to avoid a $15 charge per towel.

Restrooms, showers, lockers, and a water fountain were near the gift shop at the park entrance.

Hot Tip:

Day passes are available for non-hotel guests starting at $40 for a half-day pass or $50 for a full-day pass.

Adventure Park

The activity space at Great Wolf Webster was exceptionally well laid out, and I appreciated having major attractions together. This space contained the arcade, ropes course, bowling alley, miniature golf, virtual reality experiences, and most of the MagiQuest game (most of these experiences are at an additional cost). It also had most of the dining and led to the entrance of the water park.

Heading into the activities space.

My family spent about as much time on MagiQuest as we did at the water park. They used wands to participate in the live-action game by activating stations within the lodge. They followed along on quests, pointed their wands at objects such as lanterns or beehives, and interacted with characters at large quest stations.

Great Wolf Lodge Webster amenities MagiQuest
MagiQuest was a huge hit for my family.

In Grapevine, MagiQuest activities were on multiple floors, and my family mostly completed MagiQuest as a group, so we all stayed on the same floor. Webster’s single-floor space made it so everyone could pursue their own quests for more of a personal achievement.

The ropes course was my teen’s favorite experience at Great Wolf Lodge Webster. He spent about an hour up there and especially enjoyed the 2 zip line features around the course.

Howler’s Peak ropes course.

I particularly liked that the ropes course was indoors, so he could use it no matter the weather. That wasn’t the case at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine, where the course was outdoors and weather-dependent, and his ropes course experience was rained out during our last stay. However, Grapevine had a smaller ropes course for younger kids that wasn’t available in Webster.

There was also an adventure trail, which didn’t require a harness and featured rope bridges, towers, and slides.

Below the ropes course and adventure trail was a miniature golf course. The theming was clever in this course, and it had features such as a tiny cabin and a walk-through wolf head.

We also spent time in the arcade, which had small rides and skill games and a prize store in the back.

Oliver’s Mining Company featured a water sluice for gem mining. Kids could pick a gem bag and sort through it to find treasures.

The virtual reality zone featured VR experiences, including dodgeball, puzzles, a fantasy forest, and walking among dinosaurs.

We shared a Wolf Pass to cover most of the experiences we wanted to do. The passes ranged from $59.99 to $89.99 and generally followed age interests, with a cheaper pass for younger kids.

Various events were held in the lobby, including yoga, character appearances, arts and crafts, dance parties, and storytelling. Most of these activities are complimentary.

Tucked away past the first-floor guest rooms was a convention center with ballrooms and meeting rooms. The center’s entrance was separate from the main lobby.

Food and Beverages

Great Wolf Lodge Webster had several places to eat, including a full-service restaurant, buffet, quick-service food hall, and a coffee and ice cream shop. Some of them had mobile ordering.

Great Wolf Lodge Webster’s quick-service dining areas had plenty of seating, whereas Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine severely lacked seated dining spaces during our visits.

Dunkin’

A small Dunkin’ outlet was open for breakfast and lunch from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. with kiosk ordering. It offered coffee, sandwiches, bagels, and donuts.

Fireside

Fireside was the full-service restaurant and bar in the lobby. It was open for lunch and dinner from 5 to 11 p.m. There was a full bar with specialty cocktails.

Service

Whether checking in or grabbing towels at the water park, we experienced great service at Great Wolf Lodge Webster. The staff in the market, at the bar, and in the water park was especially friendly and helpful. My kids had a great time picking out wands in the MagiQuest shop as the shop attendant helped them understand more about the game and shared their excitement.

Final Thoughts

My family had a great first visit to Great Wolf Lodge Webster, and we hope to be regular guests. We were thrilled by our deluxe suite, had fun at the water park, and especially enjoyed the activities for all ages. I’m pleased to have this great new lodge nearby!
