1. A New State Park Established

The official dedication ceremony for this park took place in 1941, marking its opening to the public.

Bertha Palmer was a pioneering businesswoman from Chicago. In 1910, she came to Sarasota and purchased a large area of land. She intended to try her hand at cattle and swine ranching.
