“This revolutionary narrow-body aircraft unlocks new, exciting global opportunities with its wide-body range and enhanced onboard product,” said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer.

The new aircraft is a key milestone for the airline. The A321XLR offers long-haul range coverage with narrow-body efficiency and introduces a refreshed cabin design, including 14 lie-flat Signature Class seats — a first for an Air Canada narrow-body jet — along with 168 economy seats.

Beyond Mallorca, Air Canada confirmed the A321XLR will also operate year-round service from Montréal to both Toulouse and Edinburgh, with the latter being a seasonal route, both beginning in 2026. As more of the 30 aircraft on order arrive, additional transatlantic routes from cities like Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax are expected.

Hot Tip:

The new Montréal to Palma de Mallorca route is now on sale, starting at $780 one-way in economy or 60,000 Aeroplan points. Aeroplan points are incredibly easy to earn because you can transfer Amex Membership Rewards, Bilt RewardsChase Ultimate Rewards, and Capital One miles to Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts

Air Canada’s new Airbus A321XLR is set to shake up its transatlantic routes, bringing long-haul range with more efficiency. The Montréal–Mallorca flight is just the start: Toulouse and Edinburgh are already on deck, with more destinations to come.

If you’re planning a European getaway, you can look forward to lie-flat business class and a whole new level of comfort on a narrow-body plane starting next June.
