Air Canada is already looking forward to next summer, as is evidenced by the airline’s addition of a new route between Montréal (YUL) and Madrid, Spain (MAD).

According to Aeroroutes, the service will start on June 5, 2024. Here’s everything else you should know about this exciting new route.

Nonstop From Montréal to Madrid With Air Canada

News of further European expansion in Montréal comes not long after the airline started service to another European city: Amsterdam.

Unfortunately, you can’t get on board this new flight until next summer, but it’s just another thing to look forward to for now!

The route will be served 5 times per week according to the following schedule:

Route DepartureArrival
YUL to MAD8:30 p.m.9:40 a.m. (+1)
MAD to YUL1:15 p.m. 3:20 p.m.

Air Canada will become the second airline operating the route as Air Transat already operates 4 weekly flights on a seasonal basis between the 2 cities.

The flight will be operated by one of Air Canada’s Airbus A330-300 jets, all of which feature lie-flat seats in Signature Class — the airline’s business class product.

Air Canada operates 2 variants of its internationally-configured Airbus A330s. It’s not yet clear which version will be operating this new route, so if you happen to be sitting up front, you could either be greeted with a 1-1-1 or 1-2-1 configuration.

Air Canada’s European Network

Air Canada operates nonstop service to Europe from 5 cities across Canada including Calgary (YYC), Halifax (YHZ), Montréal (YUL), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR).

Air Canada also serves Madrid from its hub in Toronto (YYZ), which means Montréal will be the second Canadian gateway with nonstop service to the Spanish capital.

Elsewhere in Europe, Air Canada offers nonstop flights to 23 cities across the continent. These include Amsterdam (AMS), Athens (ATH), Barcelona (BCN), Brussels (BRU), Copenhagen (CPH), Dublin (DUB), Edinburgh (EDI), Frankfurt (FRA), Geneva (GVA), Lisbon (LIS), London (LHR), Lyon (LYS), Manchester (MAN), Milan (MXP), Munich (MUC), Nice (NCE), Paris (CDG), Reykjavik (KEF), Rome (FCO), Toulouse (TLS), Venice (VCE), Vienna (VIE), and Zurich (ZRH).

Final Thoughts

Air Canada is expanding its European route network yet again with this new service between Montréal and Madrid.

The service will be another option for those wishing to visit either city — as well as connecting options to and from North America.
