Air Canada is expanding into the U.S., Europe, and Asia with its summer 2025 schedule, targeting mainly vacation destinations across the Atlantic and smaller but growing cities in the U.S.

The new flights include services to Naples in Italy and Porto in Portugal, plus the resumption of intercontinental flights from Ottawa.

Let’s look at where Air Canada is expanding and why this offers interesting possibilities for U.S.-based flyers.

From Naples to Nashville

Air Canada said in a statement that in summer 2025 it “will add new seasonal services and increase capacity into popular destinations across Europe, the United States, and Asia.”

The new and restored routes include Montreal (YUL) to Naples, Italy (NAP) and Porto, Portugal (OPO); Toronto (YYZ) to Prague (PRG) and to Port of Spain (POS) in Trinidad and Tobago; and service from the Canadian capital Ottawa (YOW) to London (LHR).

Across the border, Air Canada said it will start new services from Montreal (YUL) to Cincinnati (CVG) and from Vancouver (YVR) to Nashville (BNA). It will also resume flights between Toronto (YYZ) and Jacksonville (JAX). We were first tipped off about these routes when the airports themselves tweeted about them a few months ago before Air Canada later confirmed the schedules.

Rush to Europe

With tourist numbers soaring at popular European destinations, Air Canada is getting in on the action by starting flights to hotspots like Naples, the gateway to the Amalfi Coast.

Here’s the additional schedule to Europe for the summer of 2025:

Air Canada did not say what airplane model will operate the new and reopened routes across the Atlantic. The airline flies a mix of Boeing 777 and 787 as well as Airbus A330 twin-aisle jets to Europe, and it recently said it plans to reactivate 2 Boeing 767s. Air Canada had retired its entire 767 long-haul fleet during the COVID-19 pandemic; it’s rare for an airline to bring back a plane type it had retired. This indicates that Air Canada expects strong demand across the Atlantic in 2025.

Hot Tip:

Air Canada’s loyalty program, Aeroplan, can offer a lot of value to U.S.-based flyers. To see if it might be a valuable tool for you, check out our Air Canada Aeroplan loyalty program guide.

U.S., Caribbean, and Pacific Expansion

Nashville is growing fast, and its airport saw passenger numbers jump 19% from 2022 to 2023. Air Canada, which already serves the city from Toronto and with seasonal flights from Montreal, is adding a thrice-weekly seasonal service next year from Vancouver.

The schedule of the new flights to the U.S. for next summer is as follows:

In the Caribbean, Air Canada is restarting a four-times-per-week flight between Toronto and Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, serving the vast Trinidadian community in Canada with the following schedule beginning on May 2:

  • Flight AC984 departs Toronto at 8 p.m. and arrives in Port of Spain at 1:35 a.m. the next day, operating on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays
  • Flight AC985 departs Port of Spain at 2:35 a.m. and arrives in Toronto at 8:25 a.m., operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays

Both flights will operate year-round from May 2, 2025.

Air Canada will also add capacity to Asia next summer. The airline said it will resume the seasonal services it started last year to Seoul (ICN) from Montreal and to Osaka (KIX) from Toronto on Boeing 787 aircraft.

Final Thoughts

Air Canada is betting on the growth of long-haul traffic to Europe and Asia next summer, and it’s also adding new services to the U.S. and the Caribbean.

With an interesting loyalty program and a vast network serving many U.S. cities, Canada’s largest airline may have something for you with this expansion.
