Air Transat, a Canadian leisure airline that was voted 2024 World’s Best Leisure Airline at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, will start an exciting new route to Europe next summer.

On June 19, 2025, the airline will begin service to Berlin (BER) from Toronto (YYZ).

This is a strategic move by Air Transat, which has a joint venture with Toronto-based Porter Airlines, to increase connectivity and help residents from other Canadian cities — including Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Halifax — explore Berlin and its rich cultural legacy.

Here are the specifics on Air Transat’s exciting new route to Berlin.

Fly Direct From Toronto to Berlin Next Summer

Next summer, Air Transit will offer nonstop service between Toronto (YYZ) and the German capital of Berlin (BER). This means that Air Transat will be the only carrier departing from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport with direct service to Berlin. Presently, no airlines fly directly from Berlin to any city in Canada.

The seasonal service will operate from June 19 to October 24, 2025, with 2x weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays with the following schedule:

  • Depart Toronto (YYZ) at 9:05 p.m. and arrive in Berlin (BER) at 10:55 a.m. (+1)
  • Depart Berlin (BER) at 12:25 p.m. and arrive in Toronto (YYZ) at 3:15 p.m.

“The new Toronto route to Berlin is an important step in further expanding our long-haul offering. We are delighted to have gained a new strong partner in Air Transat,” said Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Airport. “The connection to Toronto opens up fantastic new travel opportunities for travellers from Berlin and Brandenburg to Canada and North America in general.”

Air Transat will use its fleet of cutting-edge narrowbody Airbus A321LR aircraft on this new route. These planes are the newest in the airline’s lineup and are designed to be more fuel-efficient, burning 15% less fuel than other aircraft options.

The aircraft features 12 Club Class (business class) seats alongside 187 economy seats.

In Club Class, the seating arrangement is designed in a 2-2 configuration, and passengers enjoy full meal service and the comfort of wider seats.

In the economy cabin, the seating is in a 3-3 configuration, with each seat equipped with a 10.1-inch inflight entertainment screen and a USB port for charging devices.

The starting price for round-trip economy fares on this new route is approximately $730 for next September.

Final Thoughts
