Earned any Alaska Airlines miles recently? If so, you may be able to multiply those Mileage Plan miles by up to 8x with up to a 30% discount.

This promotion is essentially a way to buy Alaska Airlines miles by multiplying your recent earnings. Does it make sense to buy miles this way? Let’s check the math.

Multiply Your Recent Alaska Airlines Miles

This promotion from Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is targeted, meaning not everyone will be able to participate. Additionally, you need to have recent earnings in your Mileage Plan account to participate.

I got an email telling me about this promotion, but even if you don’t have that email you can check your eligibility here. Using this offer, you can multiply your recent earnings by up to 8x with up to a 30% discount. This offer is valid until May 30, 2025, and it applies to miles earned between January 1 and March 31, 2025.

I earned 117 eligible miles between January 1 and March 31, so I can multiply those by up to 8x. Eligible offers include:

  • 2x multiplication with a 20% discount (2.2 cents)
  • 4x multiplication with a 25% discount (2.06 cents)
  • 8x multiplication with a 30% discount (1.92 cents)

At best, you can purchase miles in this offer at 1.92 cents each. Here are the terms you should know about:

  • Offer is exclusive to those who received it and can’t be shared with others.
  • Purchase deadline is May 30, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
  • Limit of 1 transaction per member using this offer.
  • Maximum number of miles you can boost is 35,000, even if you earned more miles than that during the qualifying period of January 1 to March 31, 2025.
  • Some miles can’t be boosted or multiplied, including those earned from credit cards, purchases of miles, or bonus miles from elite or cabin bonuses on flights.
  • Miles eligible for boosting include those from flights and non-travel partners.
  • Purchases by Canadian residents will incur GST, HST, and/or QST, as applicable.
Hot Tip:

Purchases are processed by Points.com, which won’t count as an airfare purchase. Therefore, you’ll want to use one of the best credit cards for everyday spending to earn the most rewards along the way.

Is It Worth It?

Should you buy Alaska Airlines miles at 1.92 cents each? That’s what this offer boils down to.

The most recent sale to buy miles in the typical manner — not multiplying miles — offered a price of 1.85 cents per mile, so this miles multiplier isn’t as good as that.

However, you may not need to buy miles at all. You can transfer points from Bilt Rewards to Mileage Plan at a 1:1 ratio or transfer from Marriott Bonvoy at a 3:1 ratio. You also can earn Alaska Airlines miles from both a small business credit card and a personal credit card, both issued by Bank of America. It’s also possible to transfer your Hawaiian Airlines miles to Alaska Airlines.

If you’ve tapped out other sources and want to increase your Mileage Plan balance, then this offer to multiply your recently earned miles can make sense. For everyone else, the price isn’t very attractive.

Final Thoughts

If you earned any Alaska Airlines miles between January 1 and March 31, you may be able to multiply them by up to 8x with up to a 30% discount. This offer is targeted, and it only runs through May 30. It won’t make sense for most people, but it’s good to know this option exists if you’ve exhausted other methods of getting Alaska miles.
