In honor of World Pilots Day on April 26, Alaska Airlines launched a set of collectible trading cards that are guaranteed to be popular — and guaranteed to go fast, given that the airline hasn’t launched a new set of trading cards in over a decade.

Alaska Airlines’ Trading Cards Relaunch

Alaska Airlines says it designed this new set of 8 trading cards in conjunction with its pilots, and the announcement of these new sets provides some interesting details.

The 2025 set of trading cards is a big improvement over previous editions. They now feature holographic film and lenticular coating, making them multi-dimensional rather than the cardstock used in previous editions. Moreover, cards will be distributed from the flight deck, adding to the experience for aviation lovers.

The airline says the initiative for these cards came from its pilots, who are eager to share these cards with customers and inspire future generations of aviators. Among those leading the charge was Scott Day, a Hawaiian Airlines pilot who previously flew for Alaska.

“It’s nice for someone — especially a kid — to leave the flight with something meaningful, whether it’s a memory, a set of wings, or, in this case, a one-of-a-kind card. These cards are not just cool keepsakes, but also educational tools, with each one featuring details about the aircraft and its unique story.”

Alaska Airlines first introduced trading cards in the 1990s, and several redesigns have since followed, reflecting the airline’s evolving fleet. The cards have become incredibly popular among collectors.

How To Get These Trading Cards

Just ask! As you board an Alaska Airlines flight, ask the pilot if they’re carrying a set of trading cards.

Card availability varies, and not every pilot on every flight will have a set. Limited quantities of these cards are being produced, and they’re available on a first-come, first-served basis. That means there’s no guarantee you’ll get a set, but the only way to know if they’re available is to ask on your flight.
