It’s the interline agreement you didn’t know you needed.
From early 2023, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian-based Mokulele Airlines will be strengthening their relationship.
“Our enhanced partnership with Mokulele Airlines will provide our guests with a more streamlined way to travel to additional communities across the islands to appreciate the culture, beauty, and adventure of Hawaii,” said Nat Pieper, senior vice president of fleet, finance, and alliances at Alaska Airlines.
Let’s take a look at the details of Alaska and Mokulele’s enhanced partnership.
More Hawaiian Destinations Now Accessible
Getting to off-the-beaten-track destinations in Hawaii will be a lot easier come 2023 thanks to Alaska and Mokulele strengthening their partnership.
Those looking to head to Hawaii will be able to book 1-stop itineraries through the Alaska Airlines website to 7 destinations that are currently unserved by Alaska, namely: Hana (HNM), Hilo (ITO), Kalaupapa (LUP), Kapalua (JHM), Lanai (LNY), Molokai (MKK), and Waimea (MUE).
You can already fly nonstop with Alaska to Honolulu (HNL), Kahului (OGG), Kailua-Kona (KOA), and Lihue (LIH) from cities in Alaska and along the West Coast such as Anchorage (ANC), Los Angeles (LAX), Portland (PDX), San Diego (SAN), San Francisco (SFO), San Jose (SJC), and Seattle (SEA).
As such, Alaska and Mokulele’s enhanced interline agreement will provide easy 1-stop connection possibilities for those living in both those 3 Hawaiian Islands as well as in and around the cities with nonstop Alaska service from the mainland to Hawaii.
“This is also a terrific way for our Mileage Plan members to earn additional miles while traveling to one of the most beautiful places in the world,” said Pieper.
Mokulele is an airline within the Southern Airways Company that operates flights in 5 small networks around the U.S.
Southern provides connections for commuters on short and thin routes that don’t drum up enough demand for a mainline full-service carrier, like American, Delta, or United, to operate.
Mokulele’s fleet currently consists of just 1 Saab 340 aircraft. However, the fleet will increase to 2 when Southern bases a second aircraft in Hawaii ahead of the expansion.
“We are in a growth mode, bringing more aircraft and larger aircraft to Hawaii,” said Keith Sisson, chief of staff at Southern Airways.
