The Dominican Republic is an immensely popular Caribbean destination that’s known for numerous all-inclusive resorts, especially in the area of Punta Cana.

And today, October 24, 2022, Marriott shared that it is beginning construction on a brand-new W hotel in the popular resort destination.

Let’s take a look at all the details!

W All-Inclusive Punta Cana Uvero Alto To Have 300+ Rooms

Marriott has entered into an agreement with Grupo Puntacana and MAC Hotels for an adults-only all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. The resort will be called the W All-Inclusive Punta Cana Uvero Alto and will have nearly 350 rooms and suites.

Some rooms will have balconies and plunge pools, Marriott says. The resort will also feature an 11-room spa, 3 pools, and 11 food and beverage options.

This new Punta Cana property will join just 4 other W properties in the Caribbean and Central America and will become one of the first all-inclusive W hotels in the world.

The project is expected to break ground in the coming months, with an opening date in 2025.

Punta Cana is the perfect destination for both the W Hotels brand and an all-inclusive luxury resort,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Chief Development Officer for the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott, said in a statement.

The statement went on to say that Marriott looked forward to bringing a vision for a “fun adult playground” to fruition in Punta Cana.

There is no shortage of luxury hotels in the Dominican Republic, and this new W will join 9 other high-end Marriott properties in the Punta Cana region. These include several Autograph Collection hotels, a Luxury Collection hotel, and a Westin resort. Award nights at these properties range from around 23,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night up to around 100,000 points per night.

It’s unclear how many points will be required for a stay at the W All-Inclusive Punta Cana in Uvero Alto, but there’s no doubt rates will be on the high side.

Final Thoughts

This is exciting news for Marriott Bonvoy loyalists who want another option to earn and spend their points in the Caribbean.

It is even more significant because the adults-only W Punta Cana will become one of the first all-inclusive W hotels in a market where Marriott is sure to excel. While we’re still a few years from opening, the W Punta Cana will no doubt be popular for travelers looking for an all-inclusive option in the Dominican Republic.
