With Spring Break 2022 only around 3 months away, Allegiant plans on capturing the business of those opting to stay in the U.S. for their party vacations.
Ultra-low-cost airline Allegiant’s 9 new routes are focused on connecting Americans to warmer destinations in Florida and the Southwest.
“Whether travelers are looking to explore the desert southwest or take in the beaches of Florida, we’ve got the flights for them — free from the hassle of stops and layovers — at a price they can afford,” said Drew Wells, Senior Vice President of Revenue and Planning for Allegiant.
Let’s take a closer look.
Allegiant’s New Spring Break Routes
Allegiant’s new spring break routes aim to connect smaller, regional airports like Appleton (ATW), Flint (FNT), and Knoxville (TYS) to larger cities like Phoenix (PHX) and the Miami and Tampa areas of Florida.
The new routes are as follows:
Appleton (ATW) to Denver (DEN) — starting March 11, 2022
Appleton (ATW) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) — starting March 10, 2022
Appleton (ATW) to Sarasota (SRQ) — starting March 11, 2022
Flint (FNT) to Boston (BOS) — starting March 10, 2022
Flint (FNT) to Jacksonville (JAX) starting March 11, 2022
Knoxville (TYS) to Minneapolis (MSP) — starting March 9, 2022
Knoxville (TYS) to Phoenix (PHX) — starting February 16, 2022
Phoenix (AZA) to Toledo (TOL) — starting March 9, 2022
St. Petersburg (PIE) to Clarksburg (CKB) — starting March 11, 2022
As you can see by the crisscrossing of these routes, they adhere to the common low-cost airline business model of point-to-point routes, rather than operating a hub and spoke method through a major airport.
This offers passengers nonstop routing to their destinations, rather than having to transfer through an American, Delta, or United hub airport.
Looking more closely, 3 routes don’t appear to fit into the spring break category.
One such route is Appleton to Denver. This route, however, could be aimed more at those wishing to ski during their spring breaks rather than hit the beaches, which would make sense.
However, the Flint to Boston and Knoxville to Minneapolis routes connect to neither the Southwest nor Florida’s beaches.
Regional connectivity is always welcome, especially when it makes journeys more simple, quicker, and cheaper for passengers — just as these new Allegiant routes will do for the spring breakers of 2022.
So, what’ll it be — the beaches of Florida, the great outdoors of Arizona, or even the slopes of the Colorado Rocky Mountains?
