The Fort Worth-headquartered carrier will add and resume exciting routes from its Chicago (ORD) and Philadelphia (PHL) hubs toward the end of the year.

Here are the details.

New Winter Routes From Chicago to Mexico

American Airlines is doubling down on Mexico this coming winter with 2 new routes from Chicago O’Hare.

The first to take off is the resumption of nonstop daily service to Mexico City (MEX). The route, which was last served by American in 2016, will restart on October 26, 2025. The service will be year-round, providing Chicagoans with a new, reliable option when planning a trip to the Mexican capital.

The second Mexican destination is Queretaro (QRO) — a city around 130 miles northwest of Mexico City.

American’s new Queretaro service will also operate daily as of December 18, 2025. Chicago joins Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) as only the second U.S. airport with nonstop American Airlines service to Queretaro.

Both routes will be operated by variations of American’s fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft.

American Adds Seasonal Philadelphia to Santo Domingo Service

American also plans to reinstate its service connecting Philadelphia (PHL) with the popular vacation destination of Santo Domingo (SDQ) — the capital city of the Caribbean island of the Dominican Republic.

The daily service will operate once daily between December 18, 2025, and January 5, 2026. The short time frame covering Christmas and New Year suggests that the focus of this service is to facilitate those traveling to visit friends and family over the holiday period.

The schedule for the limited-time route is as follows:

  • Depart Philadelphia (PHL) at 5 p.m. and arrive in Santo Domingo (SDQ) at 9:50 p.m.
  • Depart Santo Domingo (SDQ) at 7:05 a.m. and arrive in Philadelphia (PHL) at 10 a.m.

Miami (MIA) is the only other U.S. airport from which American Airlines operates nonstop service to Santo Domingo. The route will be operated by American’s fleet of Airbus A321 aircraft.

Hot Tip:

Tickets for each of American’s 3 new routes are available to book using miles and cash now at AA.com or via the airline’s app. When paying cash for American Airlines flights, we recommend using a credit card that will reward you for spending with the airline.

Final Thoughts

American wants to help take the chill out of winter this year by providing even more nonstop options to sunnier destinations. New services to Mexico City, Queretaro, and Santo Domingo are all welcome additions to the airline’s route network.
