Residents of the Windy City will soon have a new option to escape the cold this winter, as American Airlines has announced a nonstop seasonal service to Honolulu (HNL) in Hawaii from Chicago-O’Hare (ORD), in addition to 8 new routes.

Furthermore, the Fort Worth-headquartered carrier has updated aircraft scheduling and introduced enhanced airport technology at ORD to improve and streamline its passengers’ experience on departure.

“Strengthening our network is a promise to our customers that we’ll continue to provide exceptional service to the places they want to go,” said Ben Humphrey, vice president of American’s operations at ORD.

Here’s more on American Airlines’ latest Chicago updates.

American Increases Its Route Network From Chicago

American will begin operating service from Chicago (ORD) to 9 new destinations starting this spring. One notable new nonstop service the airline announced is to Honolulu, set to launch just in time for the winter travel season.

The inaugural flight will take to the skies on October 25, 2025, as the Northern Hemisphere’s winter aviation schedule kicks off. The frequency of the route has not yet been published.

American’s fleet of Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, equipped with 20 lie-flat seats in business class, 28 extra-reclining seats in premium economy, and a total of 186 Main Cabin Extra and Main Cabin economy seats, will accommodate passengers flying the new route.

Specifics of each new route from Chicago (ORD), including start date and aircraft type, are detailed in the table below.
