American Express just made its 2 hotel booking programs a lot more interesting.

On August 12, 2026, American Express Travel announced that more than 350 new hotels are joining Fine Hotels + Resorts (FHR) and The Hotel Collection, pushing the combined portfolio past 3,400 properties across 116 countries.

The timing isn’t random: The expansion lands as FHR celebrates its 35th anniversary. The program launched in 1991 with just 120 hotels that fit in a single printed directory, so this is a long way from where it started.

Here’s what the additions mean for your next trip, plus how to lean on your card benefits to help pay for it.

Amex Adds 350+ FHR and Hotel Collection Properties

Amex picked these additions to match its 2026 travel trends, and a few are worth calling out.

Selman Marrakech in Morocco is a luxury equestrian retreat designed for milestone trips, such as anniversaries and once-in-a-lifetime getaways. ESPACIO Nagoya Castle sits beside Japan’s 17th-century Nagoya Castle and blends regional history and wellness with one of the country’s best food cities.

Craving something more active? ROKI Collection Queenstown sits on New Zealand’s Lake Wakatipu with heli-skiing, hiking, boating, wineries, and the Southern Alps right there.

On The Hotel Collection side, Casa Lucia drops you in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires, walking distance from parrillas, wine bars, and bakeries.

The real reason to book any of these through AmexTravel.com is the benefits.

Every FHR stay gets you a room upgrade when available, daily breakfast for 2, noon check-in, a guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout, free Wi-Fi, and a property amenity worth $100 (often a spa or dining credit). Here’s the best part: There’s no minimum stay, so you can collect it all even on a single night.

The Hotel Collection requires a 2-night minimum, but you still get a $100 property credit, a room upgrade when available, plus noon check-in and late checkout.

Get up to $600 in Annual Credits on These Bookings

If you carry the Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, you have up to $600 per calendar year in prepaid hotel credits when you book FHR or The Hotel Collection through AmexTravel.com.

That $600 is split into 2 credits, each up to $300: one covers January through June, and the second covers July through December. You can’t stack the full $600 on a single reservation, but 2 well-timed stays a year can maximize the whole amount.

The Hotel Collection bookings must be at least 2 nights to qualify for the credit, whereas FHR has no minimum stay requirement. Book the prepaid rate rather than paying at the hotel, since prepaid bookings earn 5x points and trigger the annual hotel credits on these cards.

And don’t let the word “prepaid” scare you: Most of these rates are still fully refundable, so you aren’t locking yourself into anything.

Final Thoughts

More than 350 new hotels is a solid reason to take another look at what AmexTravel.com can do for you, and FHR hitting its 35-year mark makes it a fitting time to do it.

If you’re already paying the annual fee on the Amex Platinum card or Amex Business Platinum card, getting up to $600 in hotel credits and the on-property perks turn a splurge stay into something much easier to justify.
