American Express’s long-awaited Tokyo Haneda (HND) Centurion Lounge will open tomorrow, July 16, 2025. This is the bank’s 30th Centurion Lounge and four lounge in Asia. This opening comes just weeks after American Express announced plans to open a Centurion Lounge in Amsterdam (AMS).

Here’s what to expect when you visit the lounge.

Amex Centurion Lounge at Tokyo Haneda — The Details

The Tokyo Haneda Centurion Lounge will be located in Terminal 3 near gate 114. This is the airport’s main international terminal and serves ANA, Japan Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and other major carriers. Unfortunately, it won’t be accessible to those departing from Terminal 1 or 2.

The lounge will be on the smaller side at 7,500 square feet and can accommodate 122 guests.

The Amex Centurion Lounge in Tokyo Haneda will have an outdoor space where you can enjoy fresh air and planespotting before a long flight. The lounge also has a handful of phone booths, perfect for taking Zoom calls without bothering other passengers.

The locally inspired food menu, designed by acclaimed Chef Satoshi Ogino, will feature sushi, ramen, and other Japanese favorites. The bar is stocked with Japanese beer, whiskey, sake, shochu, and local cocktails. Guests can also enjoy a “sweets bar” with tea, Japanese Wagashi confections, and other rotating desserts.

As with other Centurion Lounges, you can access it with U.S. or overseas versions of The Platinum Card® from American Express, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, the Centurion® Card from American Express, or the Business Centurion® Card from American Express.

If you have an invitation-only Centurion card or Amex Business Centurion card, you can access a VIP area with dedicated seating and a private beverage station. This area is outfitted with a curated display of Japanese artwork and photography.

Hot Tip:

Amex changed guest rules for U.S. cardholders in 2023, though overseas lounges typically allow complimentary guests. Each lounge sets its own guest rules, so check the details before visiting a Centurion Lounge outside the U.S. if you plan to bring guests.

Final Thoughts

It’s great to see American Express continue to expand its airport lounge footprint, especially abroad. This will be the bank’s first airport lounge in Japan, and it’s a critical opening given that Haneda is Japan’s busiest airport and one of the busiest in Asia.

However, given its relatively small size, it will be interesting to see how the new Amex Centurion Lounge in Tokyo works in practice. American Centurion Lounges are often overcrowded. Given that Japan is a hot destination for American tourists right now, this lounge could be plagued by the same issues.
