Avelo is the fledgling ultra-low-cost carrier to take the U.S. by storm.
Its route network has expanded once again with the addition of Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) — the airline’s sixth Floridian destination.
“Sarasota’s turquoise water and white-sand beaches are now easier to get to than ever,” said Andrew Levy, Chairman and CEO at Avelo.
Let’s find out more about the new route and Avelo’s current network.
Avelo Arrives in Sarasota-Bradenton
The new route to Florida is from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN), the airline’s northeastern base in southern Connecticut.
The inaugural flight to Sarasota-Bradenton took place on January 13, 2022, as the first of 3 weekly flights that will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
The 5 additional Floridian destinations that Avelo also operates nonstop flights to from Tweed-New Haven are Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), and West Palm Beach (PBI).
In the airline’s short lifetime, connecting those living in and around New Haven, Connecticut, to the beaches of Florida has been the focus of the base.
“With our very low fares and HVN’s unmatched convenience, we hope our Connecticut Customers will be inspired to visit our sixth Florida destination,” said Levy.
Avelo operates a fleet of 3 Boeing 737-700 and 3 Boeing 737-800 aircraft in an all-economy 3-3 configuration.
Avelo’s West Coast Route Network
Avelo has a distinctly larger footprint on the West Coast from its second, larger base at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR). From Burbank, the airline operates nonstop flights to 9 cities in California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
Destinations include Bend/Redmond (RDM), Denver/Fort Collins (FNL), Eugene (EUG), Eureka/Arcata (ACV), Medford/Rogue Valley (MFR), Pasco Tri-Cities (PSC), Redding (RDD), Salt Lake City/Ogden (OGD), and Sonoma/Santa Rosa (STS).
Las Vegas (LAS) is also served by the ultra-low-cost carrier and has nonstop connections to Denver/Fort Collins, Eureka/Arcata, Redding, and Sonoma/Santa Rosa.
Final Thoughts
Sarasota-Bradenton is the newest destination on Avelo’s route network out of Tweed-New Haven and the airline’s sixth city in Florida.
We can expect more route announcements by the ultra-low-cost carrier in the coming months as the airline goes from strength to strength.
