Avianca wants to connect the U.S. with more of Latin America than ever before this summer.

The Colombian-headquartered airline has announced its largest schedule that includes a new route, increased frequencies, and the return of some popular seasonal services.

Here are the details.

Avianca’s Increased Schedule to The U.S. This Summer

In the peak month of summer travel, July 2026, Avianca will operate 42 more weekly flights than in July of last year. That’s a noticeable jump as Avianca gears up for a busy travel period, with plenty more options for travelers.

Included in the boosted schedule is the previously announced nonstop new route between San Francisco (SFO) and Guatemala City (GUA), as Avianca will be the only airline to connect the 2 cities. The route will start on June 1 and operate 4x weekly.

Additionally, the frequency on some key routes will increase significantly. Let’s take a closer look at the routes seeing the biggest frequency boosts:

  • Miami (MIA) to San Salvador (SAL) will increase from 4 to 7 weekly flights
  • New York (JFK) to Cali, Colombia (CLO) will more than double from 3 to 7 weekly flights
  • Orlando (MCO) to Bogotá (BOG) will rise from 2 to 3 times daily, with a total of 21 weekly flights

Furthermore, the following seasonal routes are scheduled to return in June 2026:

  • Chicago (ORD) to San Salvador — 3x weekly from June 2
  • Las Vegas (LAS) to San Salvador — 3x weekly from June 2
  • Miami to Cali — daily from June 1
  • New York to Pereira, Colombia (PEI) — 4x weekly from June 3
  • Orlando to Medellín (MDE) — daily from June 1
Hot Tip:

If you’re looking for a quick, nonstop route to Central and northern South America, Avianca is often the best bet. The airline’s Star Alliance membership and its Lifemiles loyalty program mean you can also redeem miles to book your flights. This can come in handy, as some short flights of as little as 30 minutes in Central America can cost hundreds of dollars.

Final Thoughts

Avianca’s expanded summer schedule comes at a good time, offering more options for travelers heading to Central and northern South America.

That said, the airline still dominates many of these routes, which can keep fares on the higher side, especially during peak periods.
