One of Hilton Honors’ most exclusive and difficult-to-book properties currently has rare, wide-open award availability for summer 2027.

Calala Island, an ultra-luxury private-island resort in Nicaragua and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), has standard award nights available throughout June and into early July 2027 — including over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Let’s look at this exceptional opportunity to book one of the world’s most aspirational points hotels.

Award Deal — The Details

Set among Nicaragua’s Pearl Cays in the Caribbean Sea, Calala Island, an SLH Hotel, is about as private as a resort gets. The 11-acre island has just 5 beachfront suites accommodating up to 10 adults, with more than 25 staff members looking after guests.

That tiny room count is a big reason Calala Island has become such a bucket-list redemption among points and miles travelers. It’s also incredibly difficult to book with Hilton Honors points, as standard award availability is often scarce or nonexistent. That’s what makes this wide-open stretch so noteworthy, especially at a resort where cash rates can exceed $4,400 per night.

  • Award cost: 240,000 Hilton Honors points per night
  • Room type: Junior Suite
  • Cash rates: Starting at approximately $4,400 per night
  • Dates: June through early July 2027
  • Minimum stay: 3 nights

Fortunately, that sky-high rate covers nearly everything. Guests will receive complimentary meals and drinks throughout the day, fishing, snorkeling, water sports, and round-trip transportation from Managua, including the flight to Bluefields and boat ride to the island. You’ll mainly need to budget for staff gratuities and any optional extras.

Currently, we’re seeing widespread award availability at the standard rate of 240,000 Hilton Honors points per night throughout June 2027 and into early July, including over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

This is incredibly rare, especially since there are practically no 3-night award stays available to book in 2026 or during the first 5 months of 2027.

How To Book

Head to Hilton’s website and search for Calala Island while selecting “Use Points.” Because the resort requires a minimum 3-night stay, searching 1 night at a time may incorrectly show no availability.

If you don’t already have enough Hilton points, American Express Membership Rewards points transfer to Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio. That means 120,000 Amex points would become the 240,000 Hilton points required for 1 night. Additionally, if you have Hilton Honors Silver status or higher, you can also take advantage of the program’s fifth-night-free benefit on award stays, which reduces the cost of a 5-night stay from 1.2 million points to 960,000 points. Transfers are irreversible, so you’ll want to confirm availability before moving any points.

You can also redeem a Hilton Free Night Certificate at Calala Island. These certificates are uncapped, meaning the 240,000-point nightly price does not limit you from using one as long as standard room reward availability exists.

Keep in mind that Calala Island requires a minimum 3-night stay, so you’ll need enough certificates, Hilton points, or a combination of both to cover the entire reservation.

Hot Tip:

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card includes an annual Free Night Certificate, making this an exceptional place to use a certificate that could otherwise expire at a far less expensive hotel.

Final Thoughts

With just 5 suites, award space at Calala Island is notoriously hard to find, making this wide-open availability for the 2027 summer especially exciting. While 240,000 points per night is steep, it can save you thousands compared to cash rates topping $4,400 for this ultra-all-inclusive experience.
