Here are all the details you need to book your trip Down Under this winter.

Award Deal — Details

Auckland (AKL) is the biggest and most important international airport in New Zealand, acting as a gateway to exploring the country.

After a few days exploring the city, you could rent an RV or hop on a domestic flight using points or cash and head off to discover the beauty New Zealand has to offer.

  • Class: Business
  • Route: Los Angeles (LAX) to Auckland (AKL)
  • Flight Number: AA83
  • Cost: 60,000 AAdvantage Miles + $42.80
  • Outbound Dates: January 4, 6, 7, 11, 21, and 28
  • Inbound Dates: January 17, 20, 27, and 28

For the time of year (New Zealand’s peak tourist seasons) the redemptions on the below dates are truly excellent as rates can be up to 250k miles one-way on other dates in January:

American’s seasonal, transpacific route connecting Los Angeles and Auckland will start on December 20, 2023, and run through March 1, 2024.

It will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Boeing 787-9 aircraft which feature 30 lie-flat Flagship Business seats.

Hot Tip:

While 60,000 might sound like a lot of points, you can quickly earn that amount and more just by taking out one of American Airlines’ co-branded credit cards.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to this excellent award availability, you can take the long journey down to New Zealand from Los Angeles in the comfort and style of American Airlines’ Flagship Business without breaking the bank.
