Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Finding business class award seats to New Zealand can be extremely difficult, both because it is a very popular destination and because there are few airlines that operate direct routes to and from the U.S.

This is where using award search tools can really come in handy — and it’s exactly how we’ve been able to locate some seats to Auckland flying in Air New Zealand’s business class cabin.

Seats are available for as few as 75,000 points per person. Of course, if you’re not looking to splurge, there are plenty of seats available in economy class as well for 50,000 points per person each way.

Here is a look at all of the details, and be sure to book quickly before these seats are gone.

Award Deal — Details

In order to book this deal, while you’ll be flying with Air New Zealand, you’ll need to book using the Air Canada Aeroplan program. That said, there are only 3 nonstop routes available for this deal, but in our view, it is one that is well worth connecting for.

  • Class: Economy and business
  • Route: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), and Houston (IAH) to Auckland (AKL)
  • Cost: From 50,000 points plus $94 per passenger, one-way, in economy; or 75,000 points plus $94 per passenger, one-way, in business
  • Travel Dates: July to September 2025
  • Award Seats: Up to 9 passengers on some dates in economy; up to 3 in business

The easiest way to find these flights is by searching on Seats.aero. Here, you can compare multiple dates and routes at once.

Booking through Air Canada using your Aeroplan points allows you to fly Air New Zealand business class for just 75,000 points, which is a fantastic deal given that economy class costs 50,000 points. You’ll be far more comfortable for the 13-15 hours of flying time.

Better yet, while we’ve seen some carriers start to pass on increasing taxes and fees on award tickets, on this flight, they’ll set you back just CA$129 (roughly $94) per passenger.

We’re seeing up to 3 seats available for these flights on some dates in business class, while in economy class we’ve seen up to 9 seats available.

Air New Zealand flights from San Francisco are served with the Boeing 787-9, while Houston and Los Angeles are both served with the 777-300ER. Both models have the same business class seat.

How To Book

You’ll redeem Aeroplan points to book these flights.

Fortunately, earning Aeroplan points is very easy since the program is a transfer partner with nearly every major transferable points program, including American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Rove Miles, and Marriott Bonvoy. Transfers from all of these programs are 1:1, except for the 3:1 transfers from Marriott Bonvoy to Aeroplan.
