For the next few weeks, you can earn bonus American Airlines AAdvantage miles on donations to the American Red Cross.

So long as you donate at least $25, you earn 10 miles per $1 donated. Here’s a closer look at the details of this offer.

Earn 10x AAdvantage Miles on Red Cross Donations

The Red Cross is soliciting donations to help with disaster relief efforts. While their work is never done, recent storms and hurricanes have made it clear that this work is critical.

If you donate at least $25 to the American Red Cross, you can earn 10 American Airlines AAdvantage miles per $1 donated. This offer runs through October 18, 2024.

Donations can be made here.

You can choose preset donation amounts ranging from $75 to $1,000 or enter a custom amount on the donation page. You can also earmark your donation for certain efforts, such as disaster relief, Hurricane Helene, your local Red Cross chapter, or simply “Where It Is Needed Most.”

You can make your donation by credit card or PayPal if you donate online. It’s also possible to donate by phone or by mail, and details for these are available on the donations page.

We value American Airlines miles at 1.4 cents apiece. Earning 10x AA miles on Red Cross donations amounts to a 14% return on your gift.

It’s also worth noting that several Chase credit cards list charities as an eligible category for Pay Yourself Back if you’re interested in choosing the right credit card for your donation.

Hot Tip:

Wondering if you can claim these donations on your taxes? You’ll find this notation on the donation page: “The American National Red Cross is registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Contributions to the American National Red Cross are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.”

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking to make a donation to a charity that’s helping people in the wake of disasters, there’s never a bad time to do so. Right now, though, you can get something in return for your donation. If you donate to the American Red Cross by October 18, you can earn 10x American Airlines miles on your donation, so long as you give at least $25.
