The latest travel gadget may already be in the palm of your hand — and you don’t even know it. That’s because the online travel agency (OTA) Booking.com is about to beta-launch an AI Trip Planner. Select U.S. travelers and app users can test it out beginning tomorrow, June 28, 2023.

The generative AI tool will be designed to interact just as if you were speaking to a human being to help plan trips. It’s an exciting development in the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence.

Here’s what to look forward to from Booking.com’s AI Trip Planner.

A Conversational Experience

The AI Trip Planner from Booking.com is meant to bring a conversational experience to booking travel online.

Users will be able to ask the Planner general or specific travel questions to help determine where they want to go or stay on vacation. They will even be able to describe the kind of trip they’d like and the tool will help narrow down the options.

Results can be expected back in just a matter of seconds.

Booking.com’s pricing information, as well as links to more details, will be provided. Users will be able to easily switch between the app’s interface and the AI Trip Planner chat box all within the Booking.com app. Users can select accommodations directly from AI Trip Planner suggestions and then book them in just a few taps, thanks to the AI Trip Planner’s deep integration into Booking.com’s mobile app (iOS, Android).

According to Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com, “Our new AI Trip Planner is simply the next step in our ongoing journey to explore how we can bring even more value, and hopefully enjoyment, to the entire trip planning process.”

Select Genius members in the U.S. will get to try out The AI Trip Planner beginning June 28, 2023.

Bottom Line:

Booking.com’s AI Trip Planner is a generative AI tool that will help plan trips in a conversational manner. It will be available in beta for select app users later this month.

Final Thoughts

Generative AI and ChatGPT continue to prove to be useful tools for the travel industry. Booking.com is the latest OTA to utilize generative AI technology to streamline the travel booking process. Its beta version of the AI Trip Planner will become available to select Booking.com app users tomorrow — let us know in the comments if you get the chance to use it!
