If you’re shopping through Capital One Miles today, you may notice a big change: the ability to bonus miles in lieu of cash-back! Capital One Offers is essentially a shopping portal that you can access through your Capital One credit card. These deals previously only offered cash-back, but now you have the ability to earn miles instead.

Here are all of the details on this new option from Capital One Offers.

Earn Bonus Miles Through Capital One Offers

There’s a new way to earn with Capital One Offers. You can now choose whether to earn miles or cash-back.

This is a brand-new option that seems to be rolling out in phases. Some staffers at Upgraded Points have accounts that switched to miles-earning automatically, while some are still seeing cash-back offers.

According to the Capital One Offers website, you’ll be able to select which option works best for you. “Great news! Payouts from Capital One Offers may now be issued as miles or cash-back rewards for eligible rewards cards. To select between qualifying accounts, visit the Capital One Offers home page.”

We should note that even though the verbiage says you’ll be able to choose how you’d like to earn rewards, that option isn’t live yet.

Hot Tip:

Don’t confuse Capital One Offers with Capital One Shopping. Capital One Offers are card-linked offers that offer bonus miles or cash-back and require a Capital One account. Capital One Shopping is a shopping portal that anyone can use, even without a Capital One card.

You can find your current Capital One Offers in your online account. After logging in, select the Capital One credit card you’d like to use. You’ll see your Capital One Offers under Shopping Offers.

How to find Capital One Offers

Is This A Good Deal?

This is excellent news for those of you who earn Capital One miles to take advantage of transfer partners. We value Capital One miles at 1.8 cents each, which means that earning miles instead of cash-back is a more valuable option. Earning 10% cash-back is a 10% return on spending, but earning 10x miles per $1 spent equates to an 18% return on spending.

If you prefer earning cash-back, you should be able to continue to do so.

Final Thoughts

Capital One Offers just added a new option: the ability to earn miles instead of cash back. This development seems to be rolling out in phases, so your account could still be showing cash-back offers. This is excellent news since earning miles generally offers more value than earning cash-back.
