Carnival is making some big loyalty changes this year, and now its credit card has a much better welcome offer to go along with them.

The Carnival® World Mastercard® has a new welcome offer for 50,000 points, worth $500 toward eligible Carnival purchases. And with the new Carnival Rewards program launching September 1, the timing of this offer is worth a closer look.

Earn 50K Points With the Carnival World Card

The Carnival World card is a no-annual-fee credit card issued by Barclays, and its new welcome offer is a sizable jump from the previous 30,000-point bonus.

New cardholders can earn 50,000 points after spending $1,000 within the first 90 days of account opening. Since points are worth 1 cent each toward eligible Carnival purchases, that gives you $500 to put toward a Carnival cruise or other eligible expenses.

Presently, the card earns 2x points on eligible Carnival purchases and 1x points on all other purchases. It also offers a 10% statement credit on eligible Carnival shore excursions and has no foreign transaction fees.

But the card is about to become more rewarding.

As we previously reported, Carnival Rewards launches September 1, 2026, replacing the cruise line’s longtime VIFP Club. With the change, the Carnival World card is being renamed to the Carnival Rewards Mastercard and will earn 3x points on Carnival purchases, 2x points at restaurants and eligible grocery stores, and 1x points on other purchases.

Credit card spending will also count toward Carnival elite status. Cardholders can earn Status Qualifying Stars through everyday purchases, giving Carnival cruisers another way to move toward status beyond what they spend with the cruise line.

And if you already have the card, you won’t lose your existing rewards. Any unused FunPoints will convert to Carnival Rewards points when the new program takes effect.

Hot Tip:

While the Carnival World card will soon have a new name and better everyday bonus categories, including uncapped 2x points at restaurants and eligible grocery stores, most travelers may be better off using a general travel rewards card. The points you earn can offer much more flexibility, with options to use them toward flights, hotels, and even Carnival cruises.

Final Thoughts

The no-annual-fee Carnival World card has a new elevated welcome offer, increasing from 30,000 to 50,000 points — worth $500 toward eligible Carnival purchases.

More importantly, the card is becoming a bigger part of Carnival’s loyalty strategy. With Carnival Rewards launching September 1, cardholders will soon have additional ways to earn points and work toward elite status through everyday spending.

For die-hard Carnival loyalists, the boosted bonus and $0 annual fee could make the card worth a look. For most travelers, though, the limited rewards structure means there are likely better options.
