If you’re a Chase Sapphire cardholder and unsuccessfully tried buying FIFA World Cup tickets through the exclusive sale earlier this week, you are not alone.

There was a technical glitch that made tickets almost impossible to snag, which is quite frustrating. In an attempt to make up for your troubles, Chase is offering a goodwill gesture of 5,000 courtesy points.

While 5,000 points certainly doesn’t make up for guaranteeing your access to one of the greatest sporting events in the world, it is certainly better than nothing.

Let’s take a look at the details and how you can request your courtesy points.

Chase’s World Cup Glitch

On February 10, 2026, Chase held an exclusive FIFA World Cup sale for Chase Sapphire cardmembers. In theory, the sale allowed cardholders to purchase up to 4 tickets per match, up to 10 matches, for a total of 40 World Cup tickets.

As you might imagine, this generated a lot of attention. Apparently, the site couldn’t handle the traffic. Many hopeful fans waited for hours, including members of the Upgraded Points team, only to be repeatedly kicked out of the virtual queue before giving up.

Chase has acknowledged a technical glitch and is offering eligible cardmembers some courtesy points for the inconvenience.

If you ran into errors during the exclusive sale and have one of the following cards, you should reach out to Chase:

If you have other people in your household with one of these cards, they will also be eligible for the bonus points.

Hot Tip:

If you’re still looking for 2026 FIFA World Cup tickets, there’s an ongoing sale for Visa cardholders. After that, the last-minute ticket sale, the final phase offered by FIFA, will start in April. Resale tickets remain available, though prices are escalating quickly for those.

How To Request Your Points

If you tried to buy FIFA World Cup tickets via Chase’s exclusive sale but were met with constant website glitches, you can claim 5,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points with a quick phone call.

Here’s how to claim your points:

  • Call the phone number on the back of your card.
  • Inform the representative of the issues you had with the exclusive sale.
  • Confirm your information.
  • Specifically request the bonus points available for cardholders.

Many readers and Upgraded Points writers have confirmed that wait times are short, agents are well aware of the issue, so 5,000 points for a quick phone call is likely worth your time.

Hot Tip:

Be sure to have the date and time you logged on, as well as the match you were trying to get tickets for, available for the Chase representative.

Final Thoughts

Chase’s exclusive FIFA World Cup sale was marred by a slew of technical glitches that left many soccer fans frustrated and empty-handed.

As a small way of apologizing, Chase is issuing 5,000 courtesy points to those who were affected, simply by calling in and speaking with a representative.

While 5,000 points won’t make those tickets appear, it is better than nothing.
