Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Those looking to use their Citi ThankYou Points for luxury hotel stays will be glad to know there’s a 25% transfer bonus from Citi to Leading Hotels of the World.

For the next several weeks, your points are worth more than normal when transferred to Leaders Club. Should you jump on this offer? Let’s check out the details.

25% Leading Hotels of the World Transfer Bonus Details

Typically, transfers from Citi ThankYou Rewards to Leaders Club happen at a 1,000:200 ratio. Leaders Club is the rewards program of Leading Hotels of the World, and Citi is offering a 25% points transfer bonus until 11:59 p.m. ET on October 19, 2024. That means transfers happen at a 1,000:250 ratio right now.

When you log into your Citi account and go to the page for ThankYou Points transfer partners, you’ll see the transfer bonus clearly displayed. You’ll need a Leaders Club account number to make transfers. If you don’t have one, you can sign up here.

How To Maximize Leaders Club Redemptions

Citi added Leaders Club as a transfer partner in late 2023. The Leaders Club program includes luxury hotels around the world, and redemptions start at 4,000 points per night.

With the standard transfer ratio from Citi (1,000:200), you’ll need to transfer 20,000 Citi points to Leaders Club for these redemptions. Right now, though, you’ll transfer just 16,000 Citi points.

However, that’s the “starting at” price, and many redemptions with Leaders Club cost more than that.

Consider the Constance Lémuria, Seychelles. Room rates start at $879 per night in late February. Alternatively, you could pay 11,150 Leaders Club points per night — a redemption rate of 7.88 cents per night.

You’d need to transfer 44,600 Citi points per night for this reservation (though keep in mind that you must transfer Citi points in increments of 1,000), making your Citi points worth 1.97 cents each. That’s well above our average valuation of Citi points at 1.6 cents apiece.

Final Thoughts

Those looking for luxury hotel stays can get a 25% transfer bonus from Citi to Leading Hotels of the World until October 19. The Leaders Club program might not be the most famous or most talked-about in award travel, but it can provide some solid value when using your points for hotel bookings. Just be sure to do the math to ensure you’re getting good value before sending your points.
